First time in here...

...so hello!

Welcome to the Madhouse.

Survival tip:

If it's in purple it was typed with the tongue firmly inserted into one cheek.

Also: stay upwind from Buglips [especially with the new whale puke based after shave]

and open all packages from Glitterwolf with a great deal of care and caution.

Other than that, enjoy the friendly banter, general camaraderie,  and the empathy for those of us going through a rough patch.

Hmmm, a one of the guys at work is doing something to get rid of his child support payments... he is remarrying the woman that he divorced.

She, for her part, is looking forward to having someone to take over some of the responsibility... on both sides, it sounds like they are going in with their eyes open, this time, and with more reasonable expectations.

A whole lot less 'We're in loooove!' and a whole lot more 'We can make this work!'

Looks... hopeful.

There's a sort-of-workmate of mine (same organisation, different restaurant) who has started dating her eight-year-old son's father whom she had broken up with before she knew she was pregnant. Similarly, it's more of them getting to know each other again and approaching the relationship with a more mature attitude.

Life takes funny turns sometimes.

For the contactor, you are safe to go with one with a slightly higher rated amperage capacity but one with a smaller capacity is definitely a No-Go.

Trying to run the system on a too low amperage rated contactor is like trying to use too light an extension cord.  The first thing you will notice is the plugs/wire getting warm then comes the electrical fire.  With the contactor, it will burn out and you will be lucky if the extra strain on the motor doesn't cause it to overheat and burn out.

For the starting capacitor, if you are within 10% of the rated capacitance of the one being replaced you should be good to go.

Good luck with your repairs.

Yea, I found a site last night that told me I'd have been fine with a 25/35, and some HVAC guys were saying that for anything below a 5-ton AC they don't use anything below a 25/40. But by then I'd already ordered a 25/30, and it's set to be delivered Monday. I also discovered that I ordered my capacitor through the same company, only I used their Amazon listing instead of their own website, and while it has said it shipped the tracking number isn't active yet. So it looks like I'll be getting the contactor before the capacitor, and the capacitor seems to be the bigger problem at this point.

Well, yesterday I was informed that the prince of my SCA kingdom died suddenly. Today we were told what happened. He came off the battlefield at an event with shortness of breath, went to the hospital, and died of a pulmonary embolism while being seen in the ER. I didn't know the guy, but dang. That's a real shame. The guys who win the crown tournaments aren't always the best people, and sometimes they're not even the best fighters, but I've been told by people I respect that he was always someone to talk to and learn from.

This week has just been bad in general. My AC goes out first. Then I'm told my grandma is at the point of her hospice care where they've taken her off of all her meds and are basically just giving her a drip of morphine until her time finally runs out. Then the SCA loses a prince. And now Steve Ditko is dead.

I've mentioned my grandma and her slow deterioration here before. I'm really, really hoping that she goes soon. It's been far too many times where she's been on her deathbed only to be brought back and be worse off for it. Most recently it was just a few months ago where she was in the ICU with pneumonia and sepsis, followed by a series of mini-strokes that left her brain even more addled than it had been. I'll miss the old lady when she's gone, but in a sense I already do miss her because she's no longer the woman I grew up with in any way other than her appearance and the rare, fleeting moments when she's lucid enough to recognize her own family...

Hey guys.

I haven't posted much in a while. I do lurk now and again.

Been dealing with stuff...moving and a bad infestation of brain weasels.

Sorry for coming in and complaining, but I wanted to share with people who might understand my frustration.

I had a really bad day with the brain weasels that whisper into my ear that everyone is out to get me. Nothing was making me feel better, so I sat down to paint. Only my wet pallet paper wasn't cut. So I went to cut it.

You know how I mentioned I just moved? Somehow only my exacto knife went missing among all my mini painting stuff...

Only the knife.

I searched a bunch of boxes for it, to no avail.

Today has not been good to me.

Sorry to hear that little mouse!

Now go beserk and tear up that wet pallet paper, it will work!

I know brainweasels, dealing with them myself regularly, let's slay those evil critters!

It is hot so we placed a little bird bath/ drinking station in the garden.

So far it has been visited by a squirrel, doves, a tomtit and a magpie.

The Magpie was a juvenile, he first made some aggressive sounds to make his presence clear and then hopped in.

When I looked at him I could see the sun expose areas of green and blue in his black pattern.

Seeing his behaviour I imagined his ancestors to be vicious little velociraptors of some kind.

We also have lots of flowers in our garden and there is a gathering of bees, bumblebees, flies, dragonflies, butterflies and in the evening moths.

I love it!

@buglips*the*goblin I have aquired NEW Partha paints at Origins. The have 24 (? I think?) In production again. How I have missed them. There is no other blue like Partha True Blue.

Niiiice.   I still haven't seen any on the Partha/IWM webstores yet.  Not sure if it's still a trial, con exclusive deal, or what.

But in the meantime, it's nice to see they're at least available at cons.

Don't have endless coffee, but I do have four different ways to brew it if that counts...

... Which reminds me, since the forecast is actually accurate today (it's raining, with thunderstorms!) I'm so glad I got the windows open early so it sort of cooled off in here before I had to close most of them...

Painting will be soon wooohooo!

Our yard is a little wild with butterfly bush and raspberries taking over a fair amount of territory, but we have so many butterflies and songbirds this year!  I think my body has learned how to sleep through their morning chorus, which is also good!  ^_^
