TheAuldGrump
In Megan's game, we think we have found where the experiment took place - it looks like whatever equipment was used was yanked out, and not carefully. At a guess, the machinery could be used to close the congruity, so the Kytons ripped it out. Also... it looks like not all of our forward team was killed - some may have been taken alive. Being taken alive by Kytons is not better than dying. Also, the way back is going to be a bit more dangerous - we found an Augur in the corner of the room, they know we are there. Kind of jealous that Megan got to the kytons before I did - they are marvelously creepy, in a body horror sort of way. **** In the Starjammer game, the party has finally twigged to the fact that the ship they have salvaged is haunted - maybe by whomever was tied up and put in an empty barrel to slowly die of thirst and starvation. The cleric has just discovered that all her holy water isn't holy water anymore - but is nasty and brackish. (Putrefy Food & Drink is a 0 level spell - used in a low-level Haunt, it is amazingly lethal in a game where stored food and water is a necessity. Without the cleric and the witch casting Purify Food & Drink the party would be in rough shape,) Worse, the hauntings seem to be singling out the cleric. (While pretty much ignoring the witch that also has Purify Food & Drink... this might be a clue.) And they have just realized that their ship is just barely moving, at this rate it will take them over a year to reach port. Books coming into play - Occult Adventures - (expanded rules on Haunts) 30 Haunts for Ship & Shore 30 Haunts for Objects (also in Occult Adventures - but Paizo was beaten to it) I was tempted to call the ship Der Flieter Nederlander.... but went with The Celestial Maria instead.... The Auld Grump - I'm the only tar to ever jump ship from Van der Decken's crew. And that's about the strangest thing, that ever a man can do....

Not because I'm an uncaring broccoli, though I am a bit of one of those, but because it means I no longer have to watch her become even more of a vegetable and see how it hurts everyone in the family. She's no longer living, but in my mind she hasn't really been living for the past year and a half to two years as she increasingly lost her mental faculties and did nothing but bounce in and out of the hospital. She wasn't living then, she was merely existing. And she was miserable. Now she's not. I can only hope that I don't end up like she was in her last few years. She didn't have it as bad as some, but she didn't have it good either. My grandmothers went through similar things at the ends of their lives. At the beginning, it wasn't too bad, though of course sad for the rest of us. But at the end, it was clear that death was a release. At least now you can begin to recover and remember the good parts without the constant intrusion of the painful end. I'm sorry for your loss and glad for the beginning of healing.

For in moments they will be here — the ones Kircher had called the Cenobites, theologians of the Order of the Gash. Summoned from their experiments in the higher reaches of pleasure, to bring their ageless heads into a world of rain and failure. Went to breakfast with my mom, then went to my grandma's house. We had to stop and pick up a letter that was left for my mom to open only when my grandma was gone. While we were there I picked up a couple small things to take with me. I grabbed a reproduction "I Like Ike" campaign button that she had in an incomplete collection of reprints from the 70's, and a couple old cigar boxes. Nothing that will become a point of contention later. If I had taken anything like that, it would have been my grandfather's old Springfield 1901A3. I already have one, which belonged to my other grandfather, and I'd love to have both. The one I have is a Smith Corona-made with a manufacture date of 10/43 and it's fully stock. The one I want is a Smith Corona-made with a manufacture date of 9/43 that's been sporterized(had most of its wood forestock removed to look like a regular hunting rifle). But that will most definitely go to one of my uncles, despite how much I would love to have the pair together. The funny thing is that they both represent my two grandfathers pretty well - one is straight-laced and by the book, the other was rough and rowdy, but both were dependable and hard working men that won't let you down. I was also informed by my mom that, if I wanted it, I could have one of her old accordions that was being kept at my grandmother's house. She has two, one of which was given to her by my great grandmother. I'm not allowed to have that one, at least not yet. But I told her I would definitely take the other one. I'll see what I can do to get it into playing shape, and then I want to learn to play the Gilligan's Island theme on it. Once I do that, I'll take it to every SCA event I go to and I will play it as I wander around, probably while drunk. Edit: wow, the formatting is really screwy because of how I copied and pasted that quote from The Hellbound Heart. And since I'm on my phone I can't fix it. Sorry. NebulousMissy
Character death last night. The gnome rogue got swallowed by a giant floating head. It's a giant floating severed head though so as the head flew off to harry the army outside the gnome's corpse dropped grossly onto the exhausted ranger. There were chewed gnome-bits everywhere. He got better. And then took revenge on the floating head later after it killed the Gorilla King. Good times. 11
Dilvish the Deliverer
Good weekend so far! Awesome Wife accompanied me to the FLGS on Saturday and played in her first two games of D&D (5E adventure league)! And she liked it! So I have another player in the family. Not to corrupt, I mean, introduce the 13 year old. The we went to our favorite seafood place for dinner and then spent a bunch of money at the Book Barn on art books. Still with an average price of 4-8 dollars a book, its much cheaper than if we bought them new. Still searching for a copy of Gurney's Color and Light though.
SparrowMarie
Spent a couple hours painting this morning. Got a lot of progress on the Sphinx done. Going to Michael's once Husband wakes up from his nap. We're going to look at picture frames. I'm hoping I can find 3 -11x17" frames for a reasonable price and also hoping the sale is in the store and not just online. Otherwise it's going to have to wait a while and I'll just have to poster tack them to the wall which I'd highly prefer not to do. I also need a 10x29" frame but I am only finding those on Amazon beyond getting it custom framed which I suspect would cost more than the one I found on Amazon.

(Can't speak for Megan - but I am guessing that she has.) Pathfinder went a lot further with Kytons than WotC had - fleshing them out(?) to be a full range of Outsiders. (Paizo did that with a lot of the Outsiders - multiple kinds of Raksasha, Div, etc..) Megan's Kytons seem to be focused on rebuilding the self - theirs and other people. Taking pieces and splicing them together. The one that was cutting me to pieces was strangely detached. ('Tell me how you feel. Please, be objective. Remember, this is for science.') Others seemed to really enjoy the screaming. The Auld Grump

MUHWAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!! I have no idea what you're talking about... :p Most of that is mine, and it isn't even all of my projects... The stuff at the back belongs to the same person that owns the random arm in the picture - hubby/Rune. Hidden behind the post it note coverings is my Minotaur Demon Lord who has slowly been working his way from my turntables onto the painting desk... And slowly towards the center of it..... Almost like it's a hint to work on him..
TheAuldGrump
I'd forgotten just how badly mangled the mythology in White Wolf's Werewolf game was... Makes me want to find the author and thump him until I no longer feel annoyed. For the record - Anansi and Arachne are not equivalent deities, you lazy [bleep!]! Just because they are both spider types does not mean that they are interchangeable. And Anansi is freakin' male! - a whole lot closer to Andy Capp or Wile E. Coyote than he is to Arachne! Lazy, clever, glib, a con man at heart - not a force of Order and Law! Aaaaaarrrrggghhh! If you are going to use an existing mythology in your games, do your freakin' homework! *Froth, froth, gnash....* The Auld Grump - hard to believe that White Wolf's crew had previously done the well researched Ars Magica.... 8
TheAuldGrump
Is it just me, or does DHL (the delivery company) kinda suck? We had a package that was supposed to come in yesterday - and right up until 11 PM the tracking said By End of Day - with the last one saying 'Within the Hour'... and nuthin'. Now the site reads Estimated Delivery: Not Available. The Auld Grump 5 2
