I can remember when they would feed you as part of the cost....

Yeah, so can I.

Buncha cheap-elf bar-stewards they are.

For some reason I just had the mental image of a whole bunch of miniatures, armed with paint brushes, and with twisted expressions on their tiny faces as the prepare to start painting a gamer that has been tied down....

The Auld Grump - 'Please, not the DIP!'

I have had a very similar dream on several occasions.

So much to do.....

Report from The Road; Day Two

Woke up "early" in Gallup.

Did morning road routine and stopped in at an "interesting" shop next to the Denny's next to the LaQuinta, on the east end of town.  Walked into the vestibule to be greeted by a stuffed Buffalo Head, and several other smaller examples of North American Wild Life.  Inside, even more interesting stuff, including more taxidermy and a Native American Proprietress named Maria.  We got to talking and mentioned our Tortoise Samantha, who is traveling with us and will be on future journeys due to the recent theft at home. {Samantha has taken well to traveling in a large ventilated plastic box and seems perfectly happy being the "Floor Inspector" in our rooms}

Maria asked if she could see Samantha so I wheeled her box in on a walker and opened up her portable house so that she could be admired.  Maria very gently touched the top of Samantha's shell and said a long prayer, in which Native American Dialect I do not know.  We had a nice chat about the totems of Native Americans and how important they are.  Had warm fuzzies all day!  Bought some small items for gifts for family and Mama went out to the car while I continued to talk with Maria and looked at some beautiful Old Pawn Jewelry, including a Squash Blossom Necklace of excellent craftsmanship and design.  Too pricey for our current budget, even with the [I can't even repeat it because it was such a generous offer] discount.  I did end up buying a less expensive modern design Squash Blossom Style necklace for Mama for Christmas.

The days travel went smoothly all across New Mexico till we were east of Tucumcari, where we were attacked in close succession by a freshly laid large road gator [the truck that laid it was less than a mile after with the Road Service Truck just getting ready to make repairs], and then by an Air Elemental a couple of miles later who tried to push off the road into the center median [car "drifted" about 2 feet to the left before I could correct the steering.  I've had harder "pushes" on a motorcycle but that was one of then hardest "out of a clear blue sky" shoves sideways I've felt in a medium sized sedan].

New Mexico Shy was gorgeous all day with flat bottomed clouds punctuating that intensely blue sky you only get on the high plains or mountains.  About 5 miles before we hit the Texas line the sky overhead turned clear with clouds around the horizon.

Only a short trip to Denton from here.  There will be a Green Eyed Monster luking somewhere near Headquarters shortly after noon tomorrow.  8^)

I forgot how terrible the Covenanter was. It's been so long since I last used it when I played on PC and was grinding my way up to the wonderful, funderful Cromwell. But man, I don't think there's been a single time that I've been hit and not had something break or been set on fire. And the really bad part? The next tank, the one right before my beloved Cromwell, is the Crusader. And I DO remember the Crusader being a freaking tinderbox with an engine that went out if you so much as looked at it funny. So I'm going from "everything breaks" to "everything breaks and is on fire" before I get to my destination of the "it's slow when you first get it, but when you get it maxed out..." Cromwell. And they're all in the tank tiers where you really have to start grinding for XP...

British tank design and production was a mess for nearly all of world War 2 and the Covenanter was an especially poor example. In the end it was only used by training units and never issued to units in combat, so it's very brave of you to fight in it!

But you have to admit they made some seriously kick-posterior fighters.

And the pilots who drove them.

Happy to say you are right, although the P-51 Mustang is probably the best of all. (Once it got the Merlin Engine.)

I think I am being repressed! ::D:  My wife made some sort of almond butter cookies and didn't even leave me one!

And then I had to clean up the dishes::o:

She has been vindicated.  Apparently she made something for her Keto diet.  if your not on keto, mixtures of butter, nut butter, bittersweet chocolate and nuts is just not appealing.  ~Shudder~  Its amazing what a little flour and heat can make appetizing!

Still going to make almond butter cookies in revenge though...

There are even flours made from ground up nuts that make really tasty cookies or cakes. I had an almond flour cake that was super tasty. Sadly I never got the recipe and don't have much contact with those people any more.

Many 8th fighter group guys that had flown Spitfires with the Eagle squadron during the blitz said the Mustang was the Spitfire all over again, but better...

Rated the best piston engine fighter of the war...

Spitfire was the ideal DEFENSIVE fighter for the British in 1940-41.

Mustang was the perfect OFFENSIVE fighter for the USAAF in 1944-45.
