Scaring people?

@Crowley I made a blog once. It might have nine posts.

What is “name level” ?

Tonight has not been my night. PokemonGo required me to sign in. Failed twice. Don’t remember password. No biggie, I’ll remote in to the home desktop. Remote access app decided I’m using the free license for commercial use and will limit me to five minutes.

Fine, I don’t need five minutes. Two tops. It kicks me off within 10 seconds. Well, elf. Message son to go grab my password. Get it from him.

Google now says I’ve tried too many times, and sends me an email alert. Been an hour now, so try again. Still can’t log in. Too many attempts. Maybe I have to review my “suspicious” activity. So click on the email. Wants me to log in.

Insanity is doing the same thing over and over again expecting different results, with the exception of electronics. Some times, doing the same thing again is exactly what has to happen!

Except tonight. Security email login says I’ve attempted it too many times! Grr...

I would delete annoying app with extreme prejudice.

So, apparently on Saturday night the one co-worker here that I actually like as a real friend, got harassed by a bunch of drunk people because our bar was closed. They got back from their wedding party and started demanding that she call the bartender back (which she doesn't have the authority to do) and proceeded to harass her and call her racist, all while filming it on their cell phones.

She's not the sort of person to take that kind of attack well and had a break down.

I hope those elf holes watch their stupid videos and realize the kind of colossal Dickensians they were.

Race baiting Dickensians.  :blues:

They won't. We've had to put up with this sort of thing for years. All management does is bend over backwards to kiss their tushies.

 Is mananagement kissing their own tushies or someone else’s?

(I would never succeed at thinking of this in the moment but...) If there is a next time, dial 911 but pretend to be calling the bartender.

Pretty sure Drunk and Disorderly is at least a misdemeanor arrest.

In OD&D, each level of each class had a name up until you reached some specific level (11 for MU, 9 for FM, and so on). At that point ("name level"), the name stayed the same. So an 11th or higher level magic user was a "Wizard", a 9th or higher level fighting man was a "Lord", and so on.

ETA: Here's an article with more details: http://www.wizards.com/default.asp?x=dnd%2F4alum%2F20090206

The article only covers the classes in Men & Magic and the later games; the OD&D classes added in later supplements and The Strategic Review had similar name lists.

That is a really strange fish.

Non-mutant fish do not have a rib cage. They also do not have a dorsal spine, or a secondary dorsal spine mounted above the first one!

I would be tempted to carve a third eye socket in it, because: Bart Simpson.

Why does it need a use? Just enjoying it is reason enough, isn't it?

@Doug Sundseth has it right, though I always used the rules cyclopedia version that standardized it to 9th level for everyone.

I aten't dead.

You ate Not Dead? Why would you eat that old guy that they threw on the cart in Month Python and the Holy Grail?

My swag bag is getting delivered today! I'm gonna have new stuff when I wake up this evening!

And on top of that, today is the first day of the delivery window for a model kit that I ordered from Japan. There's no tracking, so I don't know if it's actually gonna show up today or in another 2 weeks, but I'm excited. It's the Leo mobile suit from Mobile Suit Gundam! They finally made a model kit of it this year! It only took them 23 years to do it. It's an HG model, so it's not super detailed, but the Leo is a grunt suit anyways, and prone to explodifying en masse if a Gundam so much as looks in its direction, so that's fine. It doesn't need to be super fancy. I'm still hoping that it gets enough sales that they'll do an MG version, though, especially since it could largely be a modification of the existing MG Tallgeese kit.

I've decided what I'll run for my 1st 5e AL game next Monday evening.

Mine of Pandelver

It's AL legal & since AL is kinda of in mid-season right now + it's a great adventure. I won't be able to put my signature stamp of prep on it (week vs months), but I still think I'll be able to run a game I'm proud of.

LVO games prep continues.

It's a glorious 58 degrees and raining out right now.  I think fall is really getting a grip on the city.

It’s a frigid 82F at 6am, looking at a high of 108F here. Home is 60F heading for 89F. Last time I was here, those ranges didn’t even overlap. Still, I’d rather be home.

Oh, and still locked out from Google.

Just looked Google has us at 49 degrees right now. Cold front coming through this week, so that is expected. Late Summer, early fall setting in. Oddly, we went to Eugene this week last year, came back & it was cooler then before I left. Go to RCon come back, weather is cooler then* before I left. I must be tied to changes in weather around here.

*granted it was cooler then normal when I did leave this year....

Skorne, Circle Ouroboros, Cygnar, Cryx, and Retribution are the 5 most mentioned. There was also mention of a Protectorate mystery box showing up, but I only saw one person say anything about it. The really good news is that it looks like the boxes all follow the same formula for what's in them. The Cygnar is the Mk3 starter box, Hurricane/Stormwall colossal, a unit of Stormblades, a Reliant/Stormclad jack, and tokens. The Cryx is the Mk3 starter, the Kraken/Sepulcher, Corruptor/Reaper/Malice jack, 4 Ripjaws/Nightwretches, and tokens. Though it seems there are 2 versions of the Cygnar box, the one above,

I would totally eat that. Jello with Swedish fish in it to make it look like a fish bowl? And those are grapes and I'm guessing pear or apple chunks in the bottom. It's not a 50's monstrosity of mayonnaise filled, ham wrapped bananas in cherry jello, you know...

Thanks for the update.  Happy I got a few.  Hoping I get a circle but I'll be Happy with any of them.

I work a lot with cattle. Most people who don't wouldn't want to be around me when I smell like work. Not feedlot or stockyards bad but still....

Nothing tops the smell of sewage, sulfur and DMSO.  The garlic topper is just what that combination needed.  We did a waste reclamation project and had to put all out clothes in hazmat containers when the job was done... and repay the hotel we stayed at for the furniture and flooring.  Talk about permanent stink!

Since I live in central North Carolina, my wife and I are keeping an eye on the forecast for Hurricane Florence.  At the moment, it looks like we'll get a bunch of rain but I'm not sure about wind yet.  (This is based on the four and five day forecasts which are not usually trustworthy for specifics.)  Most of the shelf space for bottled water at our grocery store and Target was empty this afternoon.

It'll be interesting.

Good luck!  One of the benefits of living in the interior.

After watching a little too much "Great British Baking Show" I decided I should prove to my daughters that I know how to make cream puffs.  I even taught one of them how to make choux pastry.  Made some cocoa whipped cream (all recipes from Joy of Cooking), filled enough for dessert and served them to an appreciate audience.

Then I surveyed the dishes and remembered why it is that I don't usually make fancy desserts.

I need to make popovers again

I like sugar cookies.  Handily Subway makes excellent sugar cookies and is near the office.

Sugar cookies are tricky.  I like crisp cookies and the latest fad in cookies seems to be soft.  I also like my sugar cookies to have a bit of citrus bite so I tend to make my own.  On the other had I'm going to Sheboygan, so no real cookies there.  Mostly cheese and smoked.meats.

To add to the list above: is both in the same glass s thing?  That could be really good or really bad.  Any tasting reports?

I hate fake skeletons so much. Why do they need to make a fake spider "skeleton"? Don't they know that spiders don't have bones!? Why do dog/cat skeletons have to have bone ears? Ears don't have bones! Well, not external ones that are visible, and the ones that are internal usually just fall out the skull because they're so small.

REAL SKELETONS ARE COOL ENOUGH ON THEIR OWN! I shouldn't have to dig up my dead cat if I want a realistic looking cat skeleton for a Halloween decoration...

I would use the skelo-spider as a construct, not undead. Cobbled together from the bones of other creatures, to look like a spider.

The Auld Grump - in the real world, large spiders are so, so fragile.

I thought maybe I picked up a weird version of con crud last week but belatedly realized it's been an allergic reaction to mold after coming back to the apartment.

For the last couple months, I thought maybe the folks around here were just smoking stuff (I get awful headaches around smoke), but I only catch the scent when the air conditioner is running. And it's extra musty now. When I'm outside, my nose clears up within a couple minutes and I lose all allergy symptoms within the hour. Even the coughing and runny nose. Coming inside riles everything up again.

We have two windows open a couple inches - we can't get the others ones to work and we don't want our cats to escape - and the AC off in Texas summer. It might rain today; it feels thick and muggy but it's also 15 degrees cooler.

We'll see what maintenance does....
