DSM8021, Fox Cleric with Mace

Hi everyone! Here is DSM8021, the Fox Cleric with Mace from Dark Sword Miniatures, Critter Kingdoms - Anthropomorphic Animals.

This 28mm pewter model was sculpted by Dave Summers. I painted this one as a veteran grey fox.

Looking at the pictures, I'm not totally happy with the eyes and may need to repaint the pupil.

Another great one! I like that you made him gruff. He'll fit in well with the rest of your foxy crew. I do have one question though on color choice - the tail seems to be brown, while the face emphasizes grey. I can't quite tell if that is deliberate to be like a specific fox type, or if it is a mismatch.

It's deliberate, I painted him as an hybrid fox, also known as marble fox. I just wanted to go for different colors on this one.

I think his mother was a red fox and his father a grey fox. I'm glad you like it.

LOVE! great rich colors and I appreciate the big candid pics. The face is so expressive for an anthropomorphic animal.

Once again a flawless paintjob. I noticed the same "weirdness" as did @Cyradis, but you explained it thoroughly.

 

That said: I don't like the sculpt. It looks more like a wolf. It really doesn't appeal to me.

I'm now working on the female fox Mage. With the color I chose, she looks like a cultist from a black order or a necromancer. I can't wait to show her off.

Out of curiosity, what do you use for your great yellows?

It's fairly simple, the base coat is muddy brown. I then build up the color with special edition pumpkin orange and 09008 sun yellow glaze and finish with pure white highlight.
