With my bride away on a work trip this week, I decided to try to squeeze in a kinda big project... and after dithering about what it should be, I settled on painting one of my many Bones dragons.

Blightfang was actually a main antagonist in a D&D campaign I ran a while back... so that's the one I decided to paint!

Tonight was spent scrubbing him down, after he'd spent the day soaking in soapy water. I partly glued him together, and then got painting with Green Liner. I'm only partly assembling him, so that I can more easily access the harder to reach spots.

Also the back legs don't fit well into the base he came with, so I'm thinking that I might need to make my own out of cork... And this was supposed to be a quick project... we'll see how I do.

Ooooh, green liner.  I'm so going to have to pick some of that up alongside brown liner when I order next.   I'm also liking how the base is looking so far, although my natural curiosity ponders what tricks will be done in order to have the tail being off the base full blend together (yeah, wording isn't my strongest thing tonight it seems) ^_^

The last picture isn't Blightfang's final placement, so the tail won't be quite so far off the base, though the tip of it will.

I'm going for a look kinda like this:

With a base that looks like this:

Tonight I used Burgundy Wine on the wings, and then while it was still wet, I blended in some Vallejo Red Leather.

Then I did the same for the spine fin.

The chest scales got a blend of the Red Leather and Burgundy Wine at about a... 3:2 ratio, but I didn't actually measure it.

Then I did some basing! Cork, gravel, and coffee grounds.

I'm not sure how happy I am with Green Liner as compared to Brown/Grey liner...

What do you not like about it in comparison?

It seems to rub off a little easier

Washed the dragon with some reconstituted citadel leviathan purple wash.

Then went over it with a green liner:dragon green 1:3 dry brush. The base was primed with Stynylrez airbrush primer.

I managed to get in about 30 minutes of work today. This is with a later of pure dragon green. Going to add some yellow for the next layer.

A large mini ragepainted sloppyfast in under an hour just to blow off some steam and get it off the tray it has been standing around for ages on.
Well, large mini I say. Compared to most other dragons of the Bones kickstarters, this one is rather smallish.
However, back in the day when heavy metal was king, this mini would be considered a large miniature of a dragon.

Painted up another bad guy for my players to encounter!
Used contrast paints and light drybrushing on the stone

Added the chompy goo-gore with glossy red

      Clothes inspired by fox hunters.
My painted writting on the scroll is rubish, notice you cant see it in these pictures.
It is very hard to reach the scroll from behind, or around the curls.

It is my third figure from the Dreadmere expansion, grabbed randomly from the "This looks fun to paint" group from that expansion.

found the metal version - I need to make some fixes on this one.

I am painting my way through the core set of bones3
He was in the original 30
I cannot identify him more than that.  I cant find him on figure finder, and I have no idea how reaper would classify either his weapon or his armor.
      a mace/polearm?  robes with brigadine?
He is listed on an old spreadsheet as "Sorcerer"  Wut?
needless to say, he is not under "Sorcerer" in on the reaper web site.
