You should be very proud of yourself.  You were already on a high level but I think you just leveled up again ::D:

Ding!! I try to pick at least one item to work really hard on for any given figure - this one happened to be All The Parts. What should the next all-out figure be? Hrmmm....

What I learned from the feathers on the base was that the finer stuff doesn't really work well, but the long peacock sword feathers and the parts below the eye of the long feathers do work. Each thread of them has enough stiffness to hold up on its own. I messed around with chopping up feathers into tiny pieces to use as flocking and that didn't work. Not sure what other feathers may have similar qualities to the long peacock feathers - I'll keep a watch for everyone!

And I couldn't resist some garnets on there. Tested some tourmaline but I didn't have any that were quite the right size. If the rock mound was a different shape I have a little piece of schorl (black tourmaline) to be a log. Perhaps a different piece will have tourmaline chips! **ponders** are there any faceters that would have tiny discarded chips of gems that they'd give me?

Very good work on the cloak and face. WIP thread earmarked for careful study later.

I'd already done a bunch before starting the WIP. Feel free to pester me on any parts of her. She was a learning experience for me too.

That's really pretty, such nice clean colors, and the freehand is incredible, I don't even want to think how long that might have taken, and the base is so full of life and detail as well!

The feather part of the cloak took a while. Estimating about 60 feathers on there, each one taking 10 minutes or so? Sometimes because I was distracted. I also had preshaded the cloak; the cloak was the moss triad + blues and nightshade purple before getting feathers on top.

I'd definitely be faster on a second round now that I have an idea of how it goes. Planning feather position also took some brain time.

I love the peacock feather idea on the cape, it's inspiring. It give a feeling of lightness to the model, like it's a cape of flight of levitation. Beautiful work!

Thanks!! It was fun to execute a "I wonder if I can do this" scheme. The peacock feather cloak was the first thing I thought of when I saw the figure so I started planning out how to do it ^_^

I highly recommend taking the plunge if you have an idea that sounds crazy in your head at first. Worst thing that could happen is a repaint, right?

I don't think there is anything I could add. Everything is already said.

Wonderful work!

Thank you! Another one Coming Soon (near future). Demoness is in the works first, then probably a dwarven brewer for Sir Cyr's dad.

Right now I am in LA for friend's wedding, and the next week will be mostly thesis writing. Then more painting! I am trying to pick another figure to do a feather pattern on for a tutorial though. If you can paint a vaguely uniform line and a generic dot, you can paint a peacock feather ::D:

I use 40 x 65mm display domes of plastic, sold by a user calling himself Plaguegames on ebay.

i have that archer, also, but haven' gotten further than breaking open the blister pack.

(I want to do a bit of modding, and found that my skills, tools and supplies weren't yet up to it)

The cape on yours is... confidence destroying for the likes of me...

This is a relatively recent paint job and I struggled with colors for a while before taking inspiration from another model and strengthening the contrast in places.  I like the model but she feels very stiff and doll-like.

Or maybe she doesn't like the light in her eyes:

Fiddled around with some freehand on the back:

This was a repaint from earlier this year. I bought Quickshade Strong Tone for speed painting some of my board games and tried it in Woody. I liked the way it worked for the most part but as you can tell I got some frosting when I matte coated it. Another thing that happened was my paint cracked on my base but I kinda like the way it looks. I probably won't bother fixing any of the issues as I moved on to another figure I am struggling with.

Fun and quick one for RCL new release. Have been aiming for a more dull/gritty looks wtih a lot of my recent figures.

Such a fun idea for a mini!
But then you have to paint all the dragon scales.
I was going for a more Asian skin tone.  I tried to speed through this one since her sword was so bent.

      I take pics during WIP.
But I tend to take a year off between posts to Show Off.

My model had a miscast to the right side of her face, so I just left it as an exaggerated shadow.  I went with an idea for eventually having a similar ranger-y type with seasonal Camo on her cloak, reversible with black on the inside.  This is the first.  Autumn.  The phone camera washes out my colors a fair bit, so I tried my best to true-up with image correction.  I hope you enjoy.
