Blame @Bathory for the thread title and unofficial goal for this month...

If you're like me, you've got a bunch of unfinished projects collecting dust. Rather than start something new, why not finish something old?

My goals:

Finish stone giant and these guys

Yeah, I like this. I have a pile of half painted stuff that is embarrassingly large.  Like your use of the dinner tray to hold stuff, too.

It makes it easy to put everything away with out having to pack everything away. The stuff that's active gets to stay on the tray, which then gets put on the shelf behind the wall hanging, out of sight. kind of essential for NYC apartment living.

I'm trying out a "paint a project per month" in which i spend a month, but not more than one, on a project, typically a KS's worth of miniatures. Got a fair amount of done, but I think I'll switch to "paint a project for two weeks". ^_^

I don't have to put stuff away, but my work space is so cluttered I lose stuff.  I got my tray out and collected up everything that has paint, primer or is in some stage of assembly.  Now I can see it all in one place and make decisions about what to work on next.

I started a "One project at a time" resolution a few months back.  I think I'll make sure to include some of the really old stuff in the rotation - the projects that I started, but never finished.  They'll actually get done, and it will help me keep my resolution.

Sure, I can finish something old that's been on the backburner for quite a while...  Well, portions thereof, anyways!

My main areas of focus for this month:

  • Finish up Wyrmgear's greenstuff additions, and get him at least covered in primer
  • Finish my Skaven Warlord for the Unrelenting Tide.  Bonus points if the Warplock Engineer and at least five of the poison wind globadiers are done too
  • Additional work on Ebonwrath.  Sure, I'd love to actually complete him, but right now my goal is to get the base coats for all three colours, and have a pattern blocked in.  Anything more than that is icing on the cake!
  • Prime, paint, and finish at least one mini for Furiously Fluffy Howling Hounds - I'm thinking either the Reaver, or Toghra.  Bonus points if it's both, and double bonus points if Krokuta is finished as well.

While I'd love to have more goals than that, for the time being I definitely seem to prefer seeing a good amount of progress on one model (or a few models) than I do a whole lot of nothing (aka say, twenty minis are in progress, but every few days it still feels like not much has been done since attention has been split across so many things)

My goal is to actually start my Gencon projects at least a little. I have a staycation in June so I can be gung ho about them then, but I'd like to get some of the planning phases done at least this month.

It's a new year! And with that come new goals.

I've got a short list but need to iron it out a bit before committing.

Since it’s the 2nd of November and nobody has started this topic yet, I will...

My goal this month is to finish enough Prince August home cast figures to stage a skirmish, and then to actually play it.  I came close last month, with a last minute finish on nine figures, but I’ll need several more to field my orcs and such warband.

My secondary goal is to get back to painting more regularly; I started the year at a pace of ~1 tabletop-grade figure per day, but I’ll need to stick to painting if I want to end the year with a pace of half a figure per day.  I’ve been running something about that the past couple of years, which means that, if I were serious about this, I would need to focus a bit more.  For most of the rules I play, a new project would be something like two armies of twelve units each of twelve figures, or a total of about 288 figures.  If I didn’t “butterfly”, that would be about a year and a half of painting, which wouldn’t be so bad if I could actually stay focused on a single project.  The odds against that are very long, of course. I’m currently looking at three new starts  (Classical Greeks in 1/72, Franco-Prussian War in 40mm home cast using vintage molds, and generic horse and musket with imagi-nations in portable 1/72) plus three ongoing projects that could use a fair bit of work (40mm French Revolution, 1/72 scale fantasy—playable but wants two Hordes of the Things armies to fill out the campaign, about 120 figures, and 25mm vintage Tolkien fantasy—for which I undoubtedly already own more figures than will be painted) and several skirmish projects.
