I'm not sure if my hobbies relieve stress or if they just change it to a different kind of stress.

Eating. Which is problematic, of course.

I do a lot of the answers mentioned but oh boy do I relate to these two the most....

I was trying to learn too many different hobbies at once and it burned me out bad. That's my fault though, so much for stress relieving. <_<

It all depends on where I am and what my options are.

Intense physical labor (chopping wood) is good.Listening to some ear-blistering heavy metal is also good. Being in a mosh pit and engaging in some good friendly violent fun is better.

Reading works sometimes, and sleeping is also pretty good.

Exercise helps too.

Rather embarrassing memory to add.

Relieving stress as a teenager is much more difficult than when you are... rather more mature.

As a teenager I can remember sometimes feeling seriously stressed for no obvious reason and having no idea how to handle it. My solution: To go to the toilet and bite deeply into the loo roll. A wonderful feeling of release and the stress would decrease.

As Douglas Adams would say: "Put your analyst on overtime."

Curl up with a book. If there happens to be a cat handy, and interested in being a lap warmer, that helps, but mostly, book.

A cup of tea is also nice, but not mandatory. ^^

Hmmm, usually going out to dinner and having a beer with dinner, or sometimes just talking with Mrs. Gargs. Mostly I try not to let things stress me out if I can avoid it and just roll with the flow so to speak, but a relaxing drink can certainly help.

Hmn... sitting down with a cup of tea most days.  Or, if it is evening, ordering a margarita.  If it's an overstimulated kind of stress, I go in the bedroom, black out all light sources, turn on the white noise maker, and try to nap, sometimes with the help of a pain reliever.

It depends on the level of it. Retreating into my mind usually helps, but if it's at a high enough point I fire up the playstation and take it out on the pixel people.(most recently Mordheim City of the Damned, brought a Skaven warband up to lvl 10 in a little under two days.) I've learned to keep my painting for when I'm more or less already relaxed, as I tend to get better results that way.

Video games. Lately kayaking, but that takes a little preparation.

I was diagnosed with an anxiety disorder at age 36.  I bottled too much lightning apparently.  So now, when I fall back into those habits, I hear a lovely metal grinder sound in my head.  I then take myself out of the situation and analyze it.

I ask why I am I stressed.

I ask what can I do about it.

If I can do something about it I do that.  If I cannot, I do my best to remove myself from the situation.

Then I walk, listen to music, paint, or sleep if the situation holds me too long.

Spoiler

[The answer to this question has been removed for the good of all humanity]

I suppose that is why I am always stressed out.

Oddly, it's not the gaming. Gaming makes me less discouraged. Doesn't do anything for my stress.

Reading stupid pulp novels, listening to heavy metal, playing video games, watching MST3K. I'd like to say painting, but I don't remember what that's like...

I initially took up mini painting as a way to relieve stress.  And initially, it worked.  In those days, I was very much a basecoat and wash kind of painter and that was enough.

Over time though, I've tried to improve my painting skill and as a result, I've found that painting minis doesn't relieve stress for me like it used to. ::(:

Recently, I've found myself going back to videogames to relieve stress.  I never actually stopped playing videogames but I do have to admit that I'm a little sad that I'm not painting as much as I used to.

Oh, sometimes when I'm really agitated I'll do chores. Purposeful activity helps me work off my agitation, and stuff gets done.

It's time again for a year-end roundup of the figures I managed to finish last year. These are the figures I finished during the calendar year of 2018, which was, let me tell you, another ... interesting year.

I was absent from here for much of 2018 (starting mid-August 2017), but that doesn't mean I wasn't painting. I hope to post a bunch of pics over the next week detailing all the minis I painted before August 2018. March featured a ton of stuff for convention GMing and I also painted a bunch for Tomb of Annihilation. And just whatever I felt like.
I'm going through stuff elsewhere to see what's been done and soon I'll be posting the list of minis (and also linking to other show-off threads).
