Thank you! And I am happy to be onboard the forums. I am new to painting but skilling up.

You're new to painting?! ::o:

If so, that's just crazy. Are you aware that red is one of the most difficult colors to tackle when painting minis? Some painters struggle for years trying to make it look nice. Yours not only looks excellent, you even gave the dress fabric a completely different reflective effect from her skin. Not a lot of new painters doing that. Mad props!

As of this post I've been painting for 4 months. I watch and read a lot of tutorials about different techniques, then give them a shot. For red, I've learned to avoid mixing in white (which makes pink), but instead start with a dull, dark red, and highlight up to a more brilliant, bright red. My camera doesn't really show that transition well here.

Thank you for the kind comments.

Very nice painting, and welcome to the forum!

Very cool idea making her a Drow elf; it works very well.:winkthumbs:

      This finally gave me something to use my larger Games Workshop skulls on. I may try to give his hair another highlight of something brighter, as it looks pretty dull at the moment. A fun evil mage that I hope to use as a boss battle one day.

      These two were mostly done a while ago (along with their buddy Darkrasp). It's just taken me a while to work up the courage to paint the scroll and spellbook and get them off my shelf of shame!

      Been on a painting spree these last few months, in fact Cassie is mini 52 painted so far this year, out of my original goal of painting 50 all year.

      First up is Elliwyn Heatherlark, Gnome Bard (SKU 77164) which is the bones version.  The details were a bit soft, but she is totally serviceable for table-top.

      Next up, Blink Berenwicket (SKU 3689), the super spunky female gnome warrior in metal.  The sword didn't really turn out, and I should have had a side view...  Metals are shaded metallics.

      And last but not least, Cassie, Female Gnome Wizard (SKU 77031) in bones and mini number 52 of the year.

      Presenting the 'Shroomancer, part of the Gooblapalooza set from Games Workshop who are all Goblin Wizards with different powers. This one alters the reality around him by getting really high on mushrooms, considering his "creations" appear to be attacking him this doesn't seem to be the most reliable of powers.

      Really pleased with how this one turned out, I think the super cartoony sculpt just gelled well with the way I paint.

      As always, any comments or criticisms are warmly received.
