77102: Ebonwrath of the Sky Isles - Random Rainbow Dragon Challenge

I present Ebonwrath of the Sky Isles. The sun shines on her beauty as she surveys the land she rules in her majestic beneficence.

 

 

In an effort to just get painting, I took on the challenge of painting Ebonwrath based on random rolls of the dice. As often is the case, the dice were indifferent to my urgings and pleas for mercy. I ended up with a limited palette of Cloudy Gray, Lemon Yellow, and Orange Brown. After seeing what luck had in store for me, I decided to take the 3 star challenge and add in Pure White and Pure Black. I ended up not using the white, instead relying on the Lemon Yellow to take care of any higher values.

 

 

 

 

This project was very far outside of anything I have ever painted. The pseudo-random limited palette made me think about how to mix and blend in ways that made sense. Thankfully Cloudy Gray is a rather utilitarian color!

Love this.  Even if this was just a regular old swampy black dragon, it looks like it has molting thing going on.

 

Black dragon hires party to find cure for skin ailment...  There's a quest for ya.

I love the top of the wings! The color variation is subdued but very lovely! Glad you had fun with this!

heck, its almost like you did it with one fewer color, since cloudy grey is so neutral and can nearly be made with black and white.
