Painting Red hair

New to the forum. Long time Painter back in the fold after a long break, and painting like crazy. Anyways, I’ve always struggled with red hair. Any tips and color schemes would be welcome. From super bright to more muted. Photo is a players, bloody Dwarf I was working on. It’s OK but I chickened out from making the beard a brighter red.

Honestly, I have found the Reaper red hair triad to be really good. It will at least get you to table top quality without much trouble.

+1 for the Reaper red hair triad.  But, there are so may different shades of red hair in-between light brown, auburn, and strawberry blond, that you can really mix things up if you by adding some Harvest Brown, Orange Brown, and Burnt Orange.

I bookmarked this tutorial for red hair. Even if you don't have the exact colors used, she shows you what the paint looks like so you can match it with paint you already have.

I use the reaper red hair triad and then add a final tiny highlight just where the light hits the most with blonde highlight. It really works great.

I like Harvest brown or intense brown to add to reds to give them a more realistic hair color.
