The Orc, My 1st Bust

Recommended Posts

Quick update before bed.

I just kept glazing in some highlight and shadow greens.  Also glazed in some MSP Succubus Kiss and SC75 Orcish Dermis to bring in some red and help the skin look more alive (at least thats the goal).

As I was putting away my stuff for the night I found a bottle MSP Orc Skin that came from one of the Dungeon Dwellers sets.  Forgot all about it.  It should make for a nice highlight color so I am going to try to start working it in a bit.

Got some more work done on his neck and added eyes.  The eyes were completely nerve wracking but I am ok with them for now.

I think I may need to push the contrast a little bit more but I am afraid of pushing it too far on a larger piece like this.

C&C greatly appreciated but not required.

He is looking really good! I like what you've done with the purple undercoat, and I'm impressed with your airbrush work. On my orc, I chickened out after the first toned basecoat and went to regular brush.

His facial features are also really nice. It's great to have room to play with colors, isn't it? The highlighting is really going to make his face pop, I think.

I will watch with interest. :-)

So I got a little more done on him and he is progressing steadily.  I'm still pretty happy with I'm but I will take any tips, advice, or suggestions anyone has.

I worked on the fur and am  pretty happy with how it turned out but not sure if it looks realistic.  Any thoughts?

Added a little more color to the lips and brought in some more highlights to the skin but not sure the highlights showed up.  I still feel the face needs more contrast so I think I will push the highlights a bit further and see how it looks.

The teeth or claw trophies and his under vest thing are just place holder colors.  I had spent too much time looking at green paint and need to break that up a bit.

Any C&C is greatly appreciated!

Looks great.

The fur could use some highlights, think soemthing in the range of sandal wood, a creamy brown.

Then highlight small parts up from brown to  almost white.

I did that with this bear.

You could even take it farther with more white.

I was thinking the same but was worried that the contrast with the teeth/claws might be muted.  I think you're right though because I want the fur to pop a little more.

Maybe I'll have the trophies as more of an ivory and use your suggestion of a creamy brown highlight for the fur.

I love that Sandalwood!  When I get taxes back I am going to get some more Scale75 paint sets.

Quick update with some pictures that hopefully are closer to the actual paint job (been practicing my photography a little).

These pictures are a little behind where I am currently at, I am actually much closer to being done than what is seen here but wanted to get some pics up anyways.

Awesome!

Looks great!

A minor piece of advice.

Look at the skulls, look at real skulls.

The teeth will be a different colour, they need to stand out from the skull a bit more.

Either paint the skulls themselves or the teeth in a different shade of ivory/white/creamy white.

Thanks!  This was before I had the teeth and skull painted I just had them this color because I was tired of staring at all the green.  The are close to the same color still but they look much better.

I will post another pic and you can let me know what you think.
