June 9 and 10: What's your favorite way to treat yourself?

Are you thinking about doing that this weekend or soon?

One of the ways for me is to go hiking in the mountains with a camera. I don't do it all that often, because to do it right I have to be up several hours before dawn and then hike on the trails in the dark to catch the sunrise in the right places. I'm hoping to do exactly that on July 3 in Rocky Mountain National Park. The trails should be clear by then (there are still snow drifts and snow fields across the higher trails right now). One of the best things about this is that if you get to the park early enough, you don't have to pay admission* and it's really easy to park at trailheads.

* We talked to a ranger about this, because we weren't trying to cheat the park, and were told that "It's a free day for you".

Eating something unhealthy, but super tasty.

I'm eating strawberry shortcake ice cream out of the container as I write this.

Thanks, Crowley!

I get a massage once a month so I'm not sure that's actually treating myself. Otherwise, it's acquiring new minis/paints/hobby stuff. Haven't had much extra money lately due to Bones but I figure when that gets here it'll be a big pile of treating myself.

I might do some acquiring this weekend though. If weather permits we'll be going down to the FLGS for a paint day, that I'm nervous about, but I'll probably be getting some paint. Maybe a mini if they have the Wiz-Kids Beholder, though they're supposed to call me when they get one in. Hopefully I didn't miss that call at some point.

June 6: If you were in charge of your favorite movie/tv franchise, what would do with it next?

Thanks, Crowley!

Okay, finally sitting down to answer this one. Given that it's my own question, I really need to answer it don't I?  Anyway, Star Trek...

First off, the current movie series? It's over. I don't feel bad about it, since it's not like the cast really needs the work. They're all popular enough without it.

Discovery gets to continue. I'm not super thrilled with everything about it, but the story they're telling is interesting. HOWEVER they aren't allowed to do anything, and I do mean ANYTHING with either the Borg or the Ferengi. Also, they need to focus more on the crew of the Discovery, since I can barely name any of them.

A new series will be developed. It will be an anthology series spanning from Enterprise through the TNG era, and maybe even beyond. Anywhere from 3-5 episodes each of 90 minutes, depending on the story they're going to tell. Not just Federation focused either. Klingon, Romulan, and Ferengi tales will be told.

At the core of all is the idea that the Federation/Honor/Empire are all ideals and that the people are flawed, but striving toward achieving it. Ethical questions will be asked, and there will be people with conflicting solutions.

In the summer, I love a bowl of ice cream at the end of a hot day.

Ooooh yeah, that's a really good one.  Doubly so with Montreal smoked meat mixed in (which is probably my favourite from La Poutine, a local place)

There's a place here that does similar, but it mixes sweet potato fries with the regular ones. Makes a huge delicious difference.

Missed this one so give it a go now. Babylon 5. It was pretty damn good as it was but the last season and spin offs could have been better. Seeing as some of the stars have passed away and the others have gotten old it can't be changed without a magic wand. Luckily Pezler can loan me one for this. I'd like to see the 4th and 5th seasons done more like it was originally planned. Shadow war stretched out into the 5th season and Ivanova sticking around. Then I'd like to see the spinoffs and add ons done well. Crusade was ok but cancelled without a conclusion. I've heard the Legends of the Rangers was bad but I've never seen it. There's so much that could be shown with the story tags left over but everything kind of collapsed after the awesomeness that was the original series ended.

Generally just sitting and relaxing. If possible in a nice quiet place out in nature. Hadn't planned on it soon because I have a pile of things I want to get done it June but the heat and a trip to the city sucked the energy out of me yesterday. Haven't decided yet if I'll take a day off today or not. The wife calls our city trips a rest but I find driving a 5 hour round trip and 5-6 hours of driving in the city and running around stores to be more tiring for me than 10-11 hours of working.

Thanks, TGP!

Hopefully,  I'll be building myself a house and will have finished it by the end of the year. (fingers crossed)

Thanks again, TGP!

I can neither confirm nor deny my involvement in any clubs or organizations and whether I have started any such entities.

A medium rare steak in a NICE steakhouse.

Steak is my favourite food of all time and as such, I don't normally eat it and save up until I can splurge on a nice steakhouse steak.  At most, I treat myself to this once (or twice) a year.

As I said, not something I do normally but when I do - :winkthumbs: :bday: :winkthumbs:

June 11: What do you consider to be hidden gems in Reaper's catalog?

Thanks, Xiwo Xerase!

The lesser elemental set by Wiebe, and the four older metal elementals by Garrity.

Only rather limited experience so far, but I would have to go with Lardguulp.

Not sure how you would define hidden, searching through the back-catalogue is half the fun.

I'll go for 03697, the Lesser Stitch-golems, because they tend to get forgotten beside Gutrags, their big brother.
