I love that y'all had fun with this, haha!

TGP, the site is called Flight Rising. I played it quite a bit a year ago. :)

This is so real. :upside:

Already answered: A woodchuck would chuck as much wood he could if a woodchuck could chuck wood.

The real question is: How much wood could a woodchuck chuck if a woodchuck could berserker rage like a barbarian?!

The results would be far more interesting. Probably include the skulls of fallen enemies (like them stoopid beavers, thinking they're all high and mighty because they *can* chuck wood).

Let woodchucks berserk!

Because I don't have a good answer for today's question, I'll give my favorite example of someone going into a berserker rage (in prose).

Joel Rosenberg's Guardians of the Flame series, I think it may have been book two or three. If you haven't read them, stop reading this immediately and go read at least the first five or six.

The basic premise is people playing a game of D&D are transmitted into the game world by the DM. A handicapped kid becomes a dwarven berserker, but when he needs to go berserk, he realizes it's harder than just saying "I go berserk" and rolling a die. He taps into some of his own past and rips it up. Amazing scene (also some pretty graphic bits in that part of the story, aside from the rage).

Read a few of them. Series sort of sputtered off into tangents*** and just sort of stopped without ever resolving the BIG Questions raised by the initial premise in the first book.

***The way D&D campaigns will do — but that’s no excuse for a book series to do that.

I rather enjoyed the first book, but after that less and less so. Of course that was... 2+ decades ago, so my memory of them is a little foggy.

Thanks, Cyradis! Really.

:wow::down:

I can't believe no-one has responded with "A woodchuck would chuck no amount of wood since a woodchuck can't chuck wood"

Not sure if I should be disappointed in y'all or if I should just sit here quietly feeling old.

Spoiler

Probably both

Same here. It was a very gritty and mature series at first, but then it turned smutty, and then it turned into almost a comedy. I wish there had been some consistency, but it felt more and more like pandering to the audience. A shame, really.

June 15: Have there been any board games or video games that you've discovered lately?

There's been a few for me! For video games, Quake Champions has been my jam. Their cash shop is all kinds of convoluted (thank goodness it's not pay to win, but there's 3 different types of loot boxes, some of the stuff you get out of it can be deconstructed and some of it can't, game challenges aren't available until you get them out of the boxes... <_< ) but I've absolutely loved playing.

We also finally got around to playing Fantasy Flight's DOOM! I enjoyed the idea of tactical board gaming, but we were playing at a con and my buddies could not save us from the attitudes of the other players at the table. Oof. That's a story.

My husband and I found a two player board game called Fields of Arle, which we've affectionately renamed "Lords of Stardew." It combines our favorite board game's agent movement system (Lords of Waterdeep) with expanding a farm and adding animals and buildings to it (just like another favorite video game, Stardew Valley). We want to play again, but it comes with a hefty - fair for its pieces and replayability - price tag.

Lords of Stardew is competitive though, unlike real multiplayer Stardew Valley, in a sense that if you put your worker in a spot, the other person can't get those resources. I'm trying to learn to be competitive, this is as close as I've been getting.

Oh, RIP, Talae asked the board game part a few days ago! Head on over to his thread for today's question if you'd like, I'm just gonna copy my board game part over there haha.

Like the title says, what are you up to for gaming? Pics encouraged!

Kingdomino has been seeing play at our house lately. My son was so excited he couldn't stay in his seat for this game.

Not much of a video game player any more, but my housemate recently had to replace her DS and I've become hopelessly addicted to the copy of Mario Kart 7 that came with it.
