Not really a "discovery", since I've played every previous edition to death, but Civ VI has been eating quite a bit of time lately.

No: I haven't played a board game since my boyhood, AND, while I enjoyed watching my sons play various video games, I have never played one myself.

Some of the miniatures that come with the modern board games are GORGEOUS. I would love to paint them, but the games have no appeal for me.

I've been leveling a character off and on old school in Everquest (no mercenaries or defiant gear)since it's free to play now. I don't play much, or often.

There are a few, some can't be mentioned *laughs nervously*

Lately I've been finally getting into the Legacy of the Void expansion for StarCraft II though, and I might seriously buy the expansion for Orwell since I enjoyed the first one so much.

Hubby found a game that's coming out next year, called Anthem. It looks pretty good; co-op, no pvp, no pay to win. Looks like a neat blend of sci-fi and fantasy.

I was pleasantly surprised by a Steam gift, free Galactic Civilizations II,

Installed it to see what it was and I played it a few minutes ..ahem...

I have been enjoying the new BattleTech computer game, but that shouldn't be much surprise.

I haven't been able to play a board or card game for months.

Wings of Liberty and Heart of the Swarm were amazing, but Legacy of the Void annoyed me with how many timed missions there were.

As a heads up, a round of discount coupons for the third one were sent out to those who had the second one....  ^_^

Many more "just one turn" moments in that one too!

Don't forget the timed achievements o_o

I think for myself, the biggest frustration is part of the story, the whole a certain somebody dying...

Heart of the Swarm is probably my favourite so far, as it showcases just how epic Kerrigan is....

Dang it.  You guys made me go look at what Galactic Civilizations was, and now I want to buy it. I've been so good at not buying video games for the last two years!

Oh, and my answer to the question of the day is "You guys just told me about Galactic Civilizations".

Crashlands has become a recent favourite video game for me. As for board games, you can throw Red Dragon Inn at me all day, there's a lot of expansions for it.

Not so much.

I did contribute some graphics to an iPhone game. It’s Named Chessagon

Here is a screenshot from playtesting. Spoilered cause it is 3.4Mb:

Hexagonal Board, Triangular spaces instead of squares, Queens have 12 directions they can move. (On a board built of squares a Queen has only 8 choices of direction.)

This is one of four chessmen ^ options I designed for the game. I think it has 8-12 different chess sets all totaled.

DOOD STATE OF DECAY 2 IS SOOOO GOOD. Too good. I should be in the studio drawing but I'm scavenging for ammo good.

Just a nice mix of things that hits me in the right place at the right time. Lots of stuff to bounce between, but most of it very relaxed. It's an odd mix of how I like things, I guess! A bit of exploration and character development and emergent gameplay. Crossplay on Win10 and Xbox, too, up to 4 player co-op. Unfortunately all my friends are on Steam, so I haven't done multiplayer yet.

I dunno if it counts or not, but I played Zombicide: Black Plague: Wolfsburg a month or so back, and thought it was pretty cool.

Re-discovered perhaps.  I'm playing Baldur's Gate on PC.  Steam is wonderful for that.

A place, a show, a song?

I look at the miniature and wait for it to sing.  Yes, they do that.

June 14: How much wood could a woodchuck chuck if a woodchuck could chuck wood?

Thanks, Cyradis! Really.

Well, we'd have to get into quantum theory, and whether woodchucks would actually choose to chuck wood.  Why wouldn't they, you ask?  Well, they have to do many other things, like survive, then there is the ever present Predator, and it is fighting the Alien menace.  And it just goes on from there, because Jason got shot into space, and he was dreaming of Freddy, and they fell into the Sun, and mistook it for Heck.

And that, my friends, is why no one has ever answered this question.

Welcome to the last 2019 instalment of Getting to Know You, December 2019 Edition.

The rules as they currently stand ( ...should you chose to accept them... )

      1. Every day, or so (unless I am out or ill or something) I will post a question.
1.5. Should I be unable to post a question for the day a crack team of deputy quisitors, former quisitors, are likely chomping at the bit to step in and post one...
      2. In theory there is a 24 hour span to answer that question before the next question is posted.
2.5. (Rule 2 is the most frequently ignored rule.)
      3. Questions will typically be posted between  06:00 hours and 09:00 hours CET. (Central European Time UYC +1)***
3.5 (...that is 23:00 to 02:00 hours RST Reaper Standard Time UTC -6)***
      4. Everyone is encouraged to suggest future questions to be posted via PM to me or one of the other quisitioners.
(But my PM box is stuffed full gimme 2-3 days to clear it out...)
      5. You do not have to answer every question to play.
      6. If a question is TMI or N/A simply wait for the next question.. ..or post that you decline to respond (clues regarding why can be fun...unless TMI).
      7. Weekend questions will often take the form of two day quests, running Saturday to Sunday.

***CLEARLY I WILL ON OCCASION BEND RULES 3. And 3.5.

It's time again for a year-end roundup of the figures I managed to finish last year. These are the figures I finished during the calendar year of 2018, which was, let me tell you, another ... interesting year.

I was absent from here for much of 2018 (starting mid-August 2017), but that doesn't mean I wasn't painting. I hope to post a bunch of pics over the next week detailing all the minis I painted before August 2018. March featured a ton of stuff for convention GMing and I also painted a bunch for Tomb of Annihilation. And just whatever I felt like.
I'm going through stuff elsewhere to see what's been done and soon I'll be posting the list of minis (and also linking to other show-off threads).
