Supply your zombies with First Person cameras and at the end of the day, on their breaks, they can tune in to BrainzTV to see the current rankings in Local, Regional and International competition.  With realtime GPS you can also keep track of where your herds and swarms are currently active.  It's also fun to see how a newly released Lab Product competes in the current meta.

Blacksmith, Herbalist and Gunsmith.   Blacksmith can make nice new weapons to lobotomize the un-dead. The Herbalist will help when all the pharmacies are looted bare.  Gunsmith because rifles and handguns need maintenance to keep killing zombies.

In zombie movies, Guns get people killed!

I'm looking for machetes, sledgehammers, axes, hook blades, naginatas, etc.

I DO NOT want all the zombies in a quarter to half mile knowing I put a cap in Zed2534.

But... on the other hand... you guys keep at it.  I'll keep my head down and use your gunshots to work around problematic territories.

Well, that is why you use silencers. You can buy them here in Florida....You can also buy a tank here in Florida.

Okay, human team mode... 

 

Honestly, I wouldn't be wanting a gun during the zombie apocalypse for being in a city area. I'd want to be in a very remote area, away from the outbreak. A gun is more reliable than a bow for big game for hunting food, and the sound would be unlikely to attract more zombies. Downside is that ammo is not reusable. I'd hope that the hunter on my team is good with a bow for some food hunting. 

 

Oh yeah - I want a pilot who is current (I am not current, nor have I practiced landings off of runways). Why? To get to a place like Thermopolis, Wyoming.

Okay, my go to team:

Coordinator.  This person makes sure that everyone knows what needs done and helps them get it done.  This person is a jack-of-all trades type but can get it done (this is me, by the way).

Cook/Polymath:  One of my good friends graduated from the CIA (Culinary Institute of America), and learned all sorts of natural ingredients.  That, coupled with boy scouts, makes him a natural person to keep around for cooking and teaching others to find/forage for food initially.

Herbalist:  I know three good herbalists, one specializes in plains herbs, while another goes east and another West.  All three would be perfect depending on where we decide to go.

Actual doctor:  I know an amazing pediatrician and a great general practitioner.  Kidnapping will be had to protect these assets and their families.

Hunters:  I live in Nessus, Illinois.  The reason I call it Nessus is that people hunt with EVERYTHING IMAGINABLE here.  Bows, guns, crossbows.  I'm covered.  I have a handful I trust, and these would be the ones I take with.  Probably six or seven of them (expecting one or two to be brained). 

Guards.  These are the people who fight.  Now, one would think that these are for the zombies, no.  These are for other people.  I actually have friends who have been in real combat situations and real danger, self included (unfortunately).  All of us act as guards to protect the group.  Mostly melee, but definitely focus on range, because the further away from us they are, the better.

Tanners/blacksmiths, fletchers, glassblowers.  Yes, actual skills that are needed as the apocalypse spreads.  We need to have real skills.

Electrical person, someone to maintain the electrical chickenwire fence that fries zombies and ensures that the chickenwire goes 100% around the camp.  No surprises for us.

Politicians.

 

If you ask me, if we're all gonna die, let us go quickly and peacefully.  Meanwhile, leave the politicians behind to suffer the slow, agonizing realization that they are all about to die and yet still can't do anything but argue among themselves while the zombies slowly, yet inevitably, close in.

In a universe of Infinite possibility just about everything exists...somewhere. I just wish I knew the proper technique to using my switchblade to open little gateways allowing me to explore these realms of possibility.

Hmmm, all sorts of good answers could come from this but instead I'm going to go the slightly selfish route... 

 

An operating system that works as well as how all of the Linux zealots claim it does, but with the simplicity of use that iOS has.  Sure, I absolutely love Android (and Windows) but iOS is a good example of something that does a task, and does it well, and you can give to a technologically illerate friend or family member and they understand it in tshirt seconds.  Uhm, thirty seconds, had to leave the autocorrupt in there. 

 

Then, it has to be powerful enough to run any game (but especially iRacing, Project CARS, Assetto Corsa, and Elite:Dangerous) at 144Hz refresh, high/ultra detail....   Bonus points for flight sims. 

 

 

.... In surround 1440p.  In English, three monitor gaming, at what gets called QHD (2560x1440 on each monitor) by a lot of companies.  Yes, I know I'm asking even more than what 4k gaming requires.... 

 

 

 

.... With no annoying setup issues, config problems, desktop issues, and most importantly, the perspective distortion on the side monitors....  And no requirement for two graphics cards that cost $1,300 CAD each to do this. 

 

 

 

... I have pretty much everything minus the simple OS that just works, and the config stuff.  Seriously, some games it feels like two hours of trial and error to get to work, even when following a guide...  But man, do I love my surround gaming! 

 

(I'd love VR too, but I'm waiting for gen 2, aaaand we only have the one headset, and it's hubby's)

Quite a few SF authors have use a plot device whereby it is possible to down-load into someone's brain something like a complete foreign language or how to build an atomic bomb.

 

Not that I would do anything worthwhile like learn brain surgery. No, stealing other peoples painting and modelling skills would be my goal.

Many possibilites varying from World Peace to the recipe of the perfect muffin.

 

I think when having to choose just one thing I will opt for a replicator ( Star Treks TNG style).

BACON HOT!

Or similar commands...

Everything available to everyone without having to fight over it/ do groceries/make it yourself.

Think of all the spare time we can use to paint minis.
