June 23 and 24: What is a mini technique or style you would like to learn? Will you be able to find time to try it this weekend?

Anything other than my current Fine-detail-with-a-roller tendency would be good.

The ship is going round Cape Hope in winter weather at present, so I shalln't be doing anything except concentrate on not falling over.

I would really like to learn how to properly two-brush-blend (with decent results) and I am trying to learn how to do NMM because it looks so much better in my opinion.

I doubt I will do either this weekend.

Eventually, I'll take the dive into OSL and NMM, but not this weekend. I was consitering OSL on the Dwarf Miners I've started on, but seeing as how it took my several months to get the Thunderers done, I'm keeping things simple with them so that I may actually have the army done by Christmas.

Using Color Shifting paint. I have the Kyphrixis (clear) that I think would make an awesome crystal dragon.

I'd like to try oils on minis. Not this weekend, though. I'll be doing docks and Cavernscapes and hopefully some work on an entry for Reapercon.

I'd like to learn this mysterious Finishing technique. It's a mystical art wherein your minis move from the Shelf of Shame to the Shelf of Display. Probably not ::P:

Painting. Just painting. I've been assembling so much 40K lately that I haven't had time to put brush to mini, best I've been able to do so far is prime with Macragge Blue spray and move on to the next thing.

I'd like to learn non-metallic metals, you can get some really nice effects with it, but I've tried learning it before I don't have the patience.

I'm still enough of a newbie that it's all new to me. ;) My main need is to just paint more honestly as finding time is the biggest challenge. That said, I do want to try osl at some point. Won't be this weekend though as none of my current projects have a need for it. Soon though!

I need to practice some stuff I have already tried (directional lighting, NMM on armor), but I want to work on techniques to do so and additives.

This weekend? Nope. I am up north in Canada trying to find housing. No painting until my last CMPA meetup in July I think.

I also would like to try out oils on minis, since my studio is currently geared up for oil painting.

I should probably prep and prime one to work on between 2d stuff while I have paints and brushes out.

OSL and NMM. Right now it doesn't look like I'll have time to play around too much as I've got a pile of stuff to do, painting and otherwise.

In all honesty?  Probably cell-shaded type techniques out of sheer curiosity.  That and weathering in general, which may or may not be related to a desire to get into GunPla.

OSL is a technique I definitely want to learn at some point, and probably the same with NMM.

It's time again for a year-end roundup of the figures I managed to finish last year. These are the figures I finished during the calendar year of 2018, which was, let me tell you, another ... interesting year.

I was absent from here for much of 2018 (starting mid-August 2017), but that doesn't mean I wasn't painting. I hope to post a bunch of pics over the next week detailing all the minis I painted before August 2018. March featured a ton of stuff for convention GMing and I also painted a bunch for Tomb of Annihilation. And just whatever I felt like.
I'm going through stuff elsewhere to see what's been done and soon I'll be posting the list of minis (and also linking to other show-off threads).
      Tablescapes Terrain WIP
Terraincrate Terrain/dressing WIP 1- Wizard's Study general WIP
Wizkids pre-primed minis and more minis terrain & dressing
      Bad Squiddo Freya's Wrath
      Folklore the Affliction minis
      GW mini WIP
      Reaper Bones minis
      77434 Yeti Chieftain
      77460 Dwarf Butcher
77624 Altar to Dagon 77343 Goroloth 77166 Balto Burrowell 77142 Bones Blacksmith WIP Show-off
The missing minis are yet to come... I need to find where they were stashed out of the way.
      Total count 20 (actually, __)
