The Creeping Green has arrived!

Using 50/50 mix of Forest Green and Shadow Green (I have a rather limited selection of greens it seems) as a base for the base of the base.  Once the rest of the green is down, I'll do a bit of highlighting with just shadow green (the only lightish green that I have) and then do some grass and brush flocking.

It would have been much easier to lay the base green down before doing any of the stonework, I'm finding.

I'm also thinking that I'll figure out horse placement and attachment before I do the flocking as well - Their legs are too thin for me to remove the broccoli bases and pin, so I think they'll end up just glued on (maybe with short pins through the bases into the resin).

I also finished the lions and pinned/glued them to their pedestals earlier this week.  Think they came out ok, although they do look  better in person.

This looks really good.

Maybe add a few rocks or branches or a bush or Small tree of some sort.. Maybe some color variation in the flocking. Grass can have many colours..maybe som moss on the Stone work....Just ideas..

Thanks and yeah - it's a pretty solid green right now (and I'm now completely out of Shadow Green lol) which is why I was thinking to do some lighter green highlighting in addition to my flock.  The grass flocking that I have is a mix of greens and browns already, plus I have some clumpy dark green shrubbery from gf9.

I have been considering mossing the stonework as well - which will also help cover up the oopsies from laying down this green layer.

Finished the initial base layer, did the logs (based in Woodstain Brown and drybrushed with Driftwood Brown) added a layer of drybrushed Highland Moss to all the roughened ground and then edged the bottom and 'northern' sides of things (and right around the base of the main structure) with Pale Lichen - which you can't really see on the camera as it is actually quite pale (as the name suggests!)

The pillars are pinned, but not glued yet .. I won't secure those until I have added the flocking and grass to the base itself..

I also primed the first horse and Brown Liner'd it, but that's boring so no pictures! :)

OK.. Grass and bushes are done except for the front where the horses will be - don't want to do grass until I have those painted and positioned, I don't think..

I do also want to add some more mossy effects to the stonework itself (like @Pochi posted in her graveyard thread), but need to figure out how I want that to look before I attempt that..

This is so cool! Just keeps looking better and better! The diorama will be amazing but this would be fun gaming terrain just like this!

Thanks!

I'm going to magnetize the minis instead of pinning and glueing them so that I can still use the terrain of the need arises.

Horses are done.. I just need to figure out how I'm going to get them onto the resin base without them looking completely awkward.. I can't really remove their bases as those legs are pretty slim and would most likely snap off and sanding into the resin surface seems like a recipe for disaster (I should have finalized position and done that before I painted the base..

one brown (with a white star and single white sock), one white, one pinto chestnut and one black..

I left the saddle on the chestnut as a layer of sepia liner because I liked the way it looked raw..

If you plan on the horses being removable from the base, just make sure you flock the bases the same as the diorama so they "match" when you set them on there. If they are to be permanent, I would have their bases integrated into the big base and then cover them over and flock to match.

Since I went ahead and glued them down last night and flocked over the bases, I suppose that means I don't need to magnetize the mini's :D
