Marc
Kind of trivial in the grand scheme of things, I know, but ... anyone have any recommendations of the best kind and/or brand of superglue ? I will only be using it on Bones figures and bases (resin bases from Secret Weapon, etc and standard plain bases enhanced with gravel, etc.) I've heard some folks swear by Loctite Gel Control superglue for miniature work, so I'm leaning toward picking some of that up ...
Loim
I like the Loctite Gel Superglue. It has some minor gap filling ability, and it sets up a little slower. I think it's largely a preference thing, but the Loctite Gel works for me. Cheers.
Chris Palmer
Gorilla Glue superglue gel works great for me.
WhiteWulfe
I like my Gorilla Glue super glue but hubby doesn't like it. I'll probably try out the Loctite stuff at some point, since it has a fairly large following online.

Is there some hidden problem that I haven’t discovered yet?
malefactus
For metal I like Gorilla Super Glue. For plastic Sure Hold Plastic Surgery (available from True Value) is the best I have tried. 1

Dr.Bedlam
Depends on what you want it for. Loctite is excellent and dries quickly, plenty of grab... but tends towards brittleness. Gorilla Glue Super Glue requires a bit more care to use, but has some flex and is less likely to snap when stressed.
Clearman
I use the brand I'm currently using is what is available in the model kit isle at Hobby Lobby. I've used other brands, but have had similar results with pretty much every one. They have all seemed to loose effectiveness over time. I've just assumed that CA glue is CA glue. djizomdjinn
I used to use Loctite 403 (or 401, I don't remember), one of their industrial-grade superglues with MSDS, cure time vs. temperature charts, and everything. Also 420, their super-low viscosity glue that wicks into cracks (and inevitably glues your fingers together. Also don't get it on paper or cloth, the increased surface area will let out a small cloud of CA fumes) Honestly overkill, but once you've used the good stuff, the stuff Loctite puts on the shelves on your local hardware store feel a bit meh by comparison. Are they good? Yes, best CA glues I've used. But they're also $20 a bottle, last time I checked.
Dilvish the Deliverer
I'm currently using my Bones Superglue until it runs out. Then I'm back to the Loctite Gel.

He doesn't like the smell, and also how the working time takes a while longer, especially with glass tiles, where it can take upwards of a minute for the tiles to stick together.
Moderator Chaoswolf Posted June 9, 2018 Moderator Share Posted June 9, 2018 I think the best answer is probably 'find the one that works the best for you and the applications you need it for'. 20 hours ago, ladystorm said: our go to around the shop is Loctite Professional Strength. Marc
OK, so I think I'm going to give Loctite Super Glue a try. The question now is, Loctite Gel or the Loctite Professional recommended here. What is the idea behind the Gel? Anyone have any thoughts on why the Loctite Gel or the Loctite Professional is a better one to go with? Again, I mainly see myseld using it to glue my Bones minis to bases
Keianna
I like the professional better. I get frustrated trying to get the gel to hold sometimes.
