Metalchaos
It's been years I painted my last Dragon so I decided this year is going to be Viridius's turn. I just love that Dragon. I think it's the second biggest pewter Reaper Dragon 10009, T’Raukzul being heavier. After spending nine hours cleaning it, I started assembling the legs and head in an extreme pinning session. I'm using nails to pin the parts together along with a decent amount of two part epoxy glue. The nails are 1/8 inch (3mm) in diameter. I'm not sure yet if I'll glue the wings before or after painting them. I know it's easier to paint them separately before assembling, but on the other hand, if I glue them now, I will need patch the gaps with green stuff and paint it with matching colors if I don't glue them right away. What are your thougths on this matter? Edited June 12, 2018 by Metalchaos
Geoff Davis
That is one huge and beautiful beast! I cant wait to see your colour choices. Personally, I would paint the wings separately. The last metal dragon I painted I found so heavy that just holding him and turning him to paint was frustrating. I would keep the wings off both to keep the weight down and to make accessing the space around the shoulders easier.
Metalchaos
Yes, it's very heavy. I will paint it as a forest Dragon, so it's aminly going to be green. You're probably right @Geoff Davis, I should paint the wings separately. Although, I'm almost sure I would have enough space to reach the scale along the spine. Metalchaos
Hi everyone, I worked on my Forest Dragon today. I've glued small size magnet behind the head crest. This way, I'll be able to change the set of horns / antlers I will build. Also, I decided to glue the wings to the body before painting anything. Even if the model will be heavier to manipulate, It will be easier to fill the gaps between the parts and the paint will even. More to come.

Metalchaos
I've applied a first thick greenstuff layer on the nails to get the general size of the horns. They're about 1 inch long. I will smooth them down a little and add some texture to make them look like giant goat horns. I think I will make the stag antlers twice as long.
malefactus
On the wings: if you are really neat with glue AND you don't need to green stuff the connection, painting the wings separately is an option. I am a sloppy glue Guy, so I wouldn't take that option. Painting small parts prior to assembly I consider senseless...as an Old Guy there are a lot of things I consider senseless.
Warlady
I think the horns are a great addition. I'm impressed by that kind of skill.

Metalchaos
The gaps between the wings and body are not that wide, they will however nead to be filled with green stuff and, most of all, I need to pin them solidely. It can all get messy, that's why I will glue them first. I plan to lay the model on a foam while I'm painting it, so it woun't be so heavy to hold. @malefactus I guess at some point, everything is relatively senseless. We give some sens to things that matters to us. Want's important is that in the end we make it throught. Regarding the wings, fixing them first or after I paint them will not change the final result, only the path will be different. And anyway, the journey will be a memorable adventure.

Kuroneko
Those horns are looking great :) One word of warning regarding Mr V's wings- mine got knocked off the table and the left wing snapped apart, horizontally, right across the bottom sail of the wing. I don't know if it was an issue with all of then or if I was just unlucky :(
