Moving with a nimbleness that is almost surprising, the small elf continues his endless prattling as his rapiers flash with ungodly speed. It is hard to tell what is driving his opponents more nuts, the cold steel or the endless questions that come out of the elf’s mouth. His size and speed allow him to operate in tighter quarters then his larger comrades and opponents, so it is no surprise as he starts making his way over to Joe giving the mage a larger clear area to position her spell on. Though the reason that the elf moves in that direction has nothing to do with the current battle. In fact he is only moving towards Joe because he has noticed that Joe has his trousers undone and wants to warn him of it before he becomes embarrassed.

Joe wimnds up for a massive blow with his axe, aimed at the raised shield of a darkspawn. suddenly the corrupted one slips, lowering the shield...the axe passes through neck and hits solidly against stone wall. breaking the handle. It is only now that he hears Janara's warning, and starts to fall back...

George drops one of his foes, only to take a minor wound from another....Fin slices down one of Joe's pursuers, while avoiding damage himself.Janara duels without result with two of the elves.....

Above the tunnel, Rai points a finger, and a bead of glowing ectoplasm shoots forth, extending itself twenty feet past the melee. there is a burst of flames, and the screams of the remaining darkspawn. The tunnel is now temporarily sealed by fire.....The darkspawn still engaged know theoir fate is sealed, and fight with more desparation...

Malachias puts an arrow into another of George's foes, and Erik takes on another.

Aeolene finishes her evocation, and a blast of noise flatens the few darkspawn remaining on the far side of the flames.....

Bootknife Ben almost casually throw a dagger into the eye of George's last foe, and Roman strikes down one of the corrupt ones fighting Janara....only one is left, and it falls beneath the swords of the Crusaders.......

Roman lays a hand on Joe's shoulder and the half orc feels a cool tingle as some of his wounds are healed. He then turns and surveys the carnage, a mixture of anger and sadness in his eyes. He climbs up out of the hole and walks up to Halbarad and Duke Gerrard.

"They are destroyed, sirs. We have some wounded that need attending to." He pauses a moment, then stands at attention and salutes, right fist on his chest. "Request permission to take a group through the tunnel, sirs!"

Taking deep gulps of air, Erik tries to calm his ragged breathing. Shock, anger and a little fear all play thorugh his mind, wondering how the Darkspawn were able to get inside Denelspire.

He reaches down and uses a garment from one of the dead to clean his sword before sheathing it. After scrambling out of the tunnel, Erik stations himself at the tunnel mouth. Figuring that he can't help the wounded, he decides that the best thing he can do is to remain vigilant, watching for another attack.

Joint post with Anastrianna

Feeling the draining results of her strenuous magic, Rai begins to sway

even before the full effects of her spell takes place. Her eyes flutter

and begin to roll back as she collapses.

Ben watches in awe as the fireball lauches into the mass of Darkspawn. He

sees George still engaged with one, calmly pulls his knife out of his

boot and with a practiced flick of his wrist, plants it in the creatures

eye.

Just as he is admiring his own handiwork, Rai's limp form falls

into him, nearly knocking him down. However, his cat-like reflexes take

over and he manages to somehow slow her fall enough to ease her gently

to the floor.

Worry creases Ben's brow and he desperately looks around for one of the healers. "Umm...could we get a little help over here?!?" he stammers nervously.

Not being completely unconscious, Rai moans and grabs Ben wrist. "No, healers can't help," she says through whispered gasps.

Baring the look of near exhaustion, her hands cold and clammy; her face drained of its usual color; her breathing fast and irregular; Rai begins to sit up. "Water," she whispers hoarsely. "I need water and rest."

Janara was thankful that Roman had stepped in and dispatched one of the dark-elves that she had been fighting. She did not like having to be bailed out of trouble evne if it was not trouble of her own making, nor did she care for admitting she could not take on both darkspawn herself, but she had kind of hoped to make a better impression on not only Roman, but on Father Halbarad and Duke Gerrard too.

Climbing up from the hole, she looked at the wrecked chapel with a sick feeling somewhere inside of her. She had always thought of it as a peaceful place where nothing bad could happen, and though she guessed her Order would play some part in ridding the chapel of any lingering evil, that was not what she had her thoughts set on. As long as the evil was still out there, nobody would ever really be safe from it, and she wanted to pay them back for what they had done today.

Now that Janara was back in the warm golden-tinted sunlight that shone through the ornate stained-glass windows of the chapel, she became aware that some of the blood on her dress was her own; and though she might need healing, she knew she had been worse off in past ordeals and that the strength she had prayed for earlier had probably saved her from more serious wounds. Others were probably in more urgent need.

"Aeolene!"

The tall Priestess-warrior was the first person Janara looked for upon climbing from the hole, and she was relieved to see her friend unhamred. Not wanting to call any attention to her own little aches and pains, she tried to direct Aeolene toward George, who she was pretty certain had gotten a scratch or two in the final moments of the fight. Making her own way toward George, she heard the Lady-Mage's ever-present male companion calling for help, and saw that the lady was lying rather linp in his arms.

Standing behind the man as he fretted over the lady, Janara saw that she was still alive, though apparently exhausted.

"She just fainted. That's all. She's gonna be alright. I'll go get'cha the water now."

Looking quickly over the wreckage again, Janara guessed that the water which had been blessed for the knighting had either been spilled or spoiled during the fight, so she decided to pray for water instead. Luckily she found an empty communion chalice, which she brought back to where the lady and her concerned friend waited.

Holding the chalice in one hand, Janara closed her eyes and whispered the water-prayer the way she had learned it.

"Water cleans. Water heals. Water gives life. Water is Your servant."

Janara's words were more simple than the holy text from which they originated, as were most of her prayers, but she had faith that her words would be heard. She opened her eyes and touched the rim of the chalice with her right finger. Filling from within, the chalice was soon full, and Janara offered it to the lady's friend.

"It ain't holy water, but it's wet. D'ya think doin' the magic made her faint? She ever done this before? Are you two married or somethin'?"

Halbarad lays hands on Roman's wounds, and mutters a quiet prayer....."Don't start in until your people are fully equipped", says Duke Gerrard. "Erik, Sir George, hold the breach until our team is ready. You there, Big Fellow.."he looks at Joe "What in Seven Hells happened to your axe? Get a replacement off the wall

and go kill some more of them....." The Duke moves to consult with Broderick and Malcolm. "Full alert. Get every member of the Ivy Crown on the walls. If we find more trouble underground, I don't want any surprises up here...."

Malachias glances around the chapel. "Yvette's not here, I hope she made it out safely. Damn, no time to find out," he mutters to himself, then approaches Roman.

"Roman, Sir!" he says, saluting. "I now have several lads under my charge. I wish to join you in cleansing the tunnel, but will you allow me a few minutes to gather them before you set out? They are, or at least should be, in the barracks not too far from here, and I can fetch them quickly."

Roman nods. "Go and find them. We will not leave until everyone's wounds have been tended and we make sure of our weapons." He doesn't think to correct Malchias for calling him 'sir' again, his mind is elsewhere....How could this happen? How could we have been so careless as to let the enemy breach our home? This sacred place? Never again.

He turns to all those present. "Before the day is out, I will lead a contingent down through the tunnel that we may strike at our attackers before they can muster a larger force. I invite all those present to join me. We are to venture into unknown territory against a powerful enemy with no way to know their numbers. I tell you this not to dicourage anyone, but so that each one of you may make a decision with all the facts laid out in front of you. Those that choose to come, make sure your wounds are healed by the priests and your weapons looked over by the smiths. Do not forget, Aurellius will be with us, always."

He gives all the gathered warriors a Crusader's salute, and then goes to the altar and kneels in prayer.

Everybody's attention turned to Roman as he announced plans to assault the tunnel before the day's end. Janara had been asking a string of questions to the Lady-Mage's male companion, but now that Roman had spoken, she did not wish to wait for an answer. In fact she had forgotten just what it was she had asked in the first place. She had alot to get done and not much time to do it in.

She wanted her old familiar weapons and leather armour, all of which were back at the convent. She also guessed it might be a good idea to bring along the climbing gear that Zeke had tried to instruct her in the use of. He had told her that such things can be useful in caverns and tunnels as well as rocks and walls, and there was no knowing just what sorts of passages lay ahead.

She truly hoped there would be a chance for a quick nap before setting out though. In spite of her half-orkishness, only two hours of sleep followed by a surprise battle with darkspawn had her inclined to do as Joe had done and steal a few winks in one of the back pews of the chapel.

Ben turns bright red at the cleric's questioning and thanks her for the water. He gently cradles Rai's head and helps her to drink from the chalice. While she is drinking he looks up to answer some of the half-orc's questions, but since her attention has turned elsewhere, he thinks it more prudent to turn his back to Rai.

Fin watched the bustle of activity from next to Joe. As always the diminutive Elf had been forgotten and left to his own devices. The two rapiers were back in their sheaths and under the cloak. Having forgotten about the undone trousers, Fins attention shifted to the corpses around them. Everyone seemed to be preparing for a fight but his curious mind was more on the bodies. Stepping from one to another he quickly and quietly searched them; paying special attention to the darkspawn Joe had killed and intrigued by the giant spider. After thoroughly searching them all he walked over to Joe again in time to hear Roman make his declaration. For a long moment he just looked at the human and wondered why he always acted like he was alone in everything, but then his mind wandered off once again to thinking if the cows and the darkspawn were in league together. That would be a very dangerous combination, thought the little elf. He also wondered why every time he napped around these people he always woke up in the middle of a fight. Finally he remembered about Joe’s trousers and he said in a rather loud whisper.

“Dude you’re pants are undone man, it was throwing your whole chi off, I mean look at your axe dude, it’s like karma man!”
