this thread is as bad as the recent acquisitions thread for costing me money.  was reminded that mission: red planet was supposed to be really fun and Sushi GO was also recommended multiple times.  Planning on gaming session Friday with some new friends...

If you get sushi go, get sushi go party. More variety.

Just a reminder, Mission: Red Planet is really fun.  Though I do recommend the higher player count for that game.  I enjoyed the game the least when there was just 3 of us.

At lunch I played some Guillotine.  Good, harmless fun, so long as you aren't French.

I *am* French (descended at least), played it often, and recommend it.

It's French killing other French, so it's all good, right?

Really?  I skipped that one as after the Cthulhu version, the dice version and base one with all the expansions, I was worried it would just be more of the same.  I am intrigued.

The train and ship mechanics were much more interesting than the plane mechanic. And the Water Purification Tokens sometimes meant curing disease was not the best method of preventing the spread of disease, which made for interesting strategic and tactical decisions.

Got in a 4-player game of Myth last night. Really good, and better than the two person games we've played. In future, we may have to play two characters each when it's just us at home.

Also played a new party game, Poetry Slam. Lots of fun for those with a yen for wordplay.

I am really wanting to get Myth to the table again soon. What setup did you go with?

Any pics?

Went to Origins Game Fair for one day and picked up a few of the Tiny Epic games from Gamelyn Games.  Played Galaxies a few times and really enjoyed it.  Just tried Tiny Epic Quest last night and did not finish the multiplayer game as it was taking too long to learn and getting past bedtime.  What is nice is both have rules for solo play so I can play around with them even when everyone else has gone to bed.  Which is what I did within Quest last night.

I like that that the games are not too long and they fit a lot into the small box.  It is a satisfying experience without overwhelming everyone at the table.  Kinda wish I hadn’t missed out on all of the kickstarters.

The 2.0 rulebook was written as some mix between supplement and replacement. You need both.

Watch the gameplay videos. They are long, but worth it. Also, check out bgg for threads on how to get started. They are worth it too.

Just ignore the haters!

Hopefully my group is picking it up again when I get back from vacation on the 9th!  Although I'm out of town 2 other weeks in July, so it may be a slow start....

I have Tiny Epic Kingdoms, which could have used a bit better playtesting and writing, but the game that we played was fun enough for the price. I'm still planning to get Quest and Galaxies.

Agreed.  I did back TEK on Kickstarter and it is a neat concept, however the game is really just too small for me.  The pieces were just too fiddly.  And one of the players randomly got a Kickstarter Only faction.  We determined after the game that they were overpowered.

Dragonfire! by Catalyst It is a D&D Board game.  Tries harder to get the system because it includes XP.  We lost but will try again.

The Shadowrun version of that game was pretty brutal and had some poor mission selections out of the box.  How difficult do you think Dragonfire! is?
