Question for Monday, July 9th: Do you enjoy binge watching TV shows, or do you prefer to enjoy them in a more drawn out fashion?

Lately, I like to wait until a series is all finished up before I even start it, so there is no waiting, ever. This leads to watching a lot of older shows, but whatever.

Nope, don't like binge watching stuff.

I start losing interest after a couple of hours.

I usually like to intersperse different series.  When I take out a series from the library I will semi binge, but I still will interweave other shows between two or three in a row.

I have a friend that does not watch shows on TV but buys the series after it is all over and binge watches.

No strong preference, mostly because I don't watch TV shows that often.

These days, if I watch TV shows or anime by myself, it's for background noise while doing boring stuff for work, like documentation for audits.  This is how I rewatched the full Reboot series (the first one).  I have been known to put on Doctor Who episodes while painting, but only those I've seen before.  (Painting requires too much focus from me right now.)

What they said. I'll often throw in a movie or another show for some variety  but once I start a series I'll try to finish it as soon as I can. Rarely watch more than 2-3 hours a day because that's my limit where things start to blur and I don't remember what I've been watching.

Depends on the series.

If it's a multi-season series, with most episodes having little connection to the others, then I'll draw them out and watch the occasional episode on TV. Easier with reruns. So things like sitcoms, or Star Trek episodes are easy to stretch out.

If it's a mini-series, or one with a tight story line, then I'll binge watch several episodes in a row. Usually a season at a time. If there's a TV marathon going on, I'll binge watch, but maybe not as intensely if I'm already familiar with the story.

Occasionally, something I planned to only watch an episode or two becomes a day long binge watch. Particularly when introduced late to a popular series. Other times, if it's a series I'm already familiar with, I'll stick with watching the best episodes, or specific scenes I fondly remember.

For new shows, I'll watch 2-3 at a time. For shows I've seen, I'll watch them again all day long, like background noise.

That is the joy of the era of Netflix, you can binge watch at your own leisure. I like watching an entire season in one shot, but currently I've been binge watching Luke Cage over 2 weeks.

I rarely  have enough time to binge watch anything.  For me, binge-watching anything would be 2-3 episodes in a sitting.  While it's sometimes fun, i'm then left with the "I want more" feeling when it's done, whereas I don't get that feeling if I stretch out a show, even if there is no more.

When binging first became an option I would binge on shows that I could get a hold of, eventually it went back to drawn out when it came to shows I would watch with my wife, and the occasional binge on ones that she had no interest in. Lately it's been neither. I just haven't been feeling like watching many shows even though I know there are a few out there I'd like to see. It always feel like I have other things I should be doing or I just run out of time or there are other things I want to do that aren't compatible with watching new shows. Although old shows I've seen a million times work for that at least.

I don't have that kind of time to waste, really. I tend to watch series on Netflix or DVR when I have a spare hour every few days, one episode at a time.

Rewatching Stargate:SG1 took me over a year, and I usually only watch one series at a time :D

Something I just thought of reading other people's responses to the binge question, is that I also use it as a barometer for my interest in a show at all.  If I don't find myself going, "Ooh!  1 more episode!" for most of an evening, then I'm probably not interested enough to watch the whole series.
