Question for Monday, July 9th: Do you enjoy binge watching TV shows, or do you prefer to enjoy them in a more drawn out fashion?

My college Sci-Fi Club had a tradition for movie/tv marathons called TUBs. Named partially for carrying VHS tapes in large tubs but also it was short for watching shows "'Til U Bleed".

I rarely have the time/patience for more than 3-4 hours of watching at a time.

Often less. I am told that this does not qualify as "binging", so I guess the second one?

I like to binge. There are some shows that I will watch in a drawn out fashion. Those are more things like reality shows though. Can't handle too much drama in one sitting.  But get me some blankets and Netflix and I can watch way too much in one day.

Binge watching TV is hard for me because of the devoted attention needed.  I'm not saying that I have a short attention span.  When I watch TV, I really like to pay attention and absorb what is going on.  There are so many other things that I want to give similar attention, so I /try/ to balance things.  I'd rather to a little bit of something each night that have a TV night, and a hobby night, etc.

Usually I'll watch an episode of whatever I'm into at the present during dinner.  During the weekend I'll usually plan on doing something constructive and suddenly wonder where the last 5 or 6 hours went.

I'm also a sucker for cliffhangers.  I gotta know what happens!

Yes.

I usually watch a few episodes in a row on an evening when I like a series, and then maybe finish it within one or twee weeks that way.

If it's something that already has a few seasons and I just got into it, I'll do this until I'm current.

I can't binge watch unless I'm sick. The last time I had the flu, I watched the entire first season of The Following in one day. Unfortunately, I couldn't remember what happened in it and had to watch it again when I was better :(

Surprise Bonus Question for Monday July 9th: How many episodes counts as a binge? Does the length of the episodes make a difference?

Any viewing lasting over 3 hours is entering the Binge Zone. :wow:

It could be three 1 hour episodes, six half-hour shows, twelve 15 minute segments, etc. or a mix of any of these.

Question for Thursday, July 5th: Sitting down at the place where everyone knows your name, the server slides a plate and a glass in front of you. What's on the plate, and what's in the glass?

Given that I have moved and almost never eat out, such a place does not exist.  Even if it did, I am the type to order something different so there would be no "the usual" to order.

Question for Friday, July 6th: Do you display your minis? If so, how do you decide which minis to display? And how do you display them? If not, why not?

Bonus Question: Is anyone else displaying one of your minis?

Kind of.  Many are stored on a bookshelf for convenience, but given that others can see them its somewhat displaying them.

Bonus: I've done a number of exchanges since I joined the forums so it is possible.  It's also possible all my gifted minis have been thrown away...

Question for the weekend of July 7th & 8th: Monster Skin - When you think of goblins, hobgoblins, bugbears, orcs, gnolls, and kobolds, etc., what colors do you mentally picture? Is that how you paint your minis? Are these colors influenced by any particular artwork, description in a book, or appearance in a movie?

I guess AD&D 2E MM colors would be my default, but it's not necessarily how I paint my minis.

I hardly watch TV anymore, but back in the day I was known to do both.  If it's something that I really enjoy I'll keep up with the show as it airs.

Enough episodes to fill hours worth of watching.  Otherwise you're not doing it right.

Depending on what you're watching, I'd say anywhere around the 2.5-3 hour mark would definitely qualify, assuming it's multiple things.  So two Star Wars movies, 5-7 episodes of anime (depending on series, naturally), etc

I prefer to watch them as they air. Mrs. Gargs prefers to binge watch, which means . . . I binge watch.

I'm gonna go with this answer.

I was was just thinking that the only thing I want to binge right now is Brooklyn 99, but that's like, the best show out there right now.

More then two episodes of a series in a row or two or more movies in a row.

Bonus points if you skip ads.
