Question for Sunday, July 1st:  We're halfway through the year! If you had a goal for the year, are you still on track? If not, what's your next step?

I'm gainfully employed.  So, that part of the goal is successful.  I have also succeeded in a few longer-term goals as well, so I'm fairly happy.

Question for Monday, July 2nd:  Do you know the story of Mrs. Malaprop? Do you use or accidentally employ malaprops? Do you insist on the more formal spelling

*Thanks to @TGP for today's question!

I didn't realize that story until now, but I'm happy to have learend it now.  I am sure I have used a malaprop or two in my life.

Question for July 3rd: Any fun stories involving fireworks? If so, share!

Mostly enjoying smaller, legal, ones in Illinois.  Nothing fun here.  I have also seen a professional fireworks setup misfire, sending many of the fireworks off all at once, to the delight of the kids, but all the adults groaned.

Question for Wednesday, July 4th: When was the last time you rebelled?

Every. Day.  One does not become an Overlord without rebelling against the system keeping them down.

The only time I seriously came close to a rebellion was in the early 2000s. Lived and worked with my dad and was getting very upset with his business deals with relatives that I hate to this day. He was letting them use and abuse him and forcing me into it as well. Eventually had enough and ended up in Russia for 3 months in 2001. Why Russia? Cute girls and it was about as far from home as I could get. Didn't burn my bridges with my dad although I did tell the relatives to f-off permanently which didn't quite take as they are still a major pain in my broccoli almost 20 years later. At least my contact with them is more of a yearly thing instead of daily robbery and insults. Ended up going back to Russia a bunch more times to different cities over the next couple of years and eventually came home with a wife and son.

This morning!

I did a load of laundry and used the clothesline while my mother recommended the dryer (because it's so hot and muggy outside). Gyahahahah!

Her house, her rules, but my underpants! (OK, so I'm in the middle of a move and spending a few days at her place).

As for a more serious rebellion... Uhm. I'm sure it happened, plenty of arguments and disagreements over the years, but none come to mind for now.

Question for Wednesday, July 4th: When was the last time you rebelled?

In a serious way-2017

From Feb of that year onwards, the resturant I worked at went down hill.

All but one of our experienced managers quit in a two week time frame. The bullheaded idiocy of the owners had become too much for our GM, and once she decided to leave the others followed.

The replacement managers had no clue whatsoever what they were doing. The owners had no idea what they were doing either, but demanded costs be cut in any fashion they could. So not only were we all now steadily losing hours, we were also running out supplies on a regular basis. (they felt that ordering chicken to stock up for the days we had chicken on special was not needed. Then they pitched a fit when customers complained about us running out of it before happy hour.)

This also drove out many of our more competent employees, who were not replaced, so as to cut labor costs.

I was told after my 50 cent raise I made too much money, and so would have to not only wash dishes, but work the fryer at the same time. I was also bussing tables because the tips I got from the front of house folks often was more than I made in the 3 hours they let me work each shift.

During sxsw, I was forced to work night shift, even though they knew I had no way home, and couldn't afford four days of cab fare and still make rent. The first shift I walked four miles home while still in a leg brace and boot. (which screwed up my knee something fierce for the next year)

The second night I was forced to sleep behind the building like a bum until 6am when the buses started running.

The third and forth nights, I managed to get a ride home from coworkers at least.

This went on until August, when my settlement money came. Fighting for 24-25 hours a week, doing the job of three people each shift and being relentlessly mocked when I complained that I was the only employee forced into this position. I couldn't leave as no one is going to hire someone with a busted leg, and they knew it and took advantage of it.

So the day the money hit the bank, I came in did literally nothing for three hours, then when they tried to cut me told them I quit, and the reasons why.

Not much of a rebellion compared to challenging the GM to swords at dawn at the place I worked prior, but it was this that finally killed any work ethic I tried to cling to.

In the fall of 2009 through the early part of 2010 I dated a guy that my parents absolutely hated. In hindsight he was an awful person and l am better off now.

On a lighter note I got my lip no pierced when I turned 18 with the money my mom gave me when she said she'd never be pay for a piercing. I also got a tattoo that next summer, she wasn't to thrilled about that either. I think she has come to terms with the fact I plan on being mostly covered in them someday.

As a multiple, former Quisitor, I feel it worth noting that so far, no one has answered the actual question (black letters) but you have all mostly answered other questions (red letters) which were not actually asked.

Herding you kittens is quite a task. <_<

My answer (to the actual question; and I had to think about it a bit) is: Last Tuesday.

Sometimes it's fun to just toss out catnip, knowing they'll all just take it and go crazy with it, rather than trying to herd them.

Today.

How did I rebel?  I had Candy Cane Hershey's Kisses left over from a Christmas past.  (I tend to buy more candy than I eat and I have a weakness for peppermint candy.)

Question for Thursday, July 5th: Sitting down at the place where everyone knows your name, the server slides a plate and a glass in front of you. What's on the plate, and what's in the glass?

On the plate: Probably the outstanding bill from the last time I visited.

Not looking too closely at the glass.

On the plate is a homemade treat from one of the bartenders.  In the glass is a new dark beer that they think I would like.

Plate probably has cookies, and the glass is probably full of chocolate milk if this server knows me so well...

Oh, it's a person server, not a computer server.... Server... !  Silly pre-morning coffee brain...

Uhm...  Probably the same if my cravings are so well known.  Might be a few gigantic muffins (of doom) on there too.

That is a place that doesn't exist. I never had a place I haunted that served food & drinks.

On the plate Lamb Chops, glass is filled with Merlot.
