Question for Thursday, July 5th: Sitting down at the place where everyone knows your name, the server slides a plate and a glass in front of you. What's on the plate, and what's in the glass?

In all likelihood, a form of sandwich. It will be a mix of meat and veggies. At its most basic form, cold cuts, lettuce and tomatoes. But if I can pile it on, I'll ask for anything that fits. Even with different toppings, it's still a tasty sandwich. [OK, so I just had a Subway sub a moment ago, so it's still on my mind.]

As for a drink. Either a diet cola or black coffee. Coffee is guaranteed at breakfast.

3. Living just outside Boston, I could easily go to the officially licensed Cheers Bar to be handed an overpriced sandwich, and a beer, while hanging out with the tourists, but I don't honestly know what's on their beer menu. I've never been inside.

You could also go to the Bull and Finch, the inspiration for the Cheers Bar, which is a lovely place with an old timey "smoking lounge" feel without the tobacco and damned good food.

Question for Friday, July 6th: Do you display your minis? If so, how do you decide which minis to display? And how do you display them? If not, why not?

Bonus Question: Is anyone else displaying one of your minis?

I've occasionally had minis up for display, but not in my current house configuration.

I've occasionally gifted painted minis and hope they're all still on display or otherwise treasured.

Currently I don't display anything.

HOWEVER, I'm moving into a new apartment, and once everything is put in place, I'm considering buying an IKEA Billy bookcase with glass doors.

Maybe more than one if I have proper wall space.

I'm also getting my late father's barrister bookcase. It's old. Not exactly top quality construction, but it makes a pretty nice display cabinet.

A bit like this one.

I have a few shelves on a bookcase in my office/now hobby area where all the minis are but most of them are just in a box at my DMs house.

At the place I go most often - A high gravity stout and a bowl of spicy pulled pork ramen!

At the other place I go most often, just whatever the new dark craft beer on tap is.

I display some of my minis (nowhere near enough space to display them all).  I have four sets of curio shelves (two of which I inherited and two I made myself) and a couple of shadow boxes.

The minis I choose to display are the ones I happen to think look best on display and/or my most recent efforts.

No one else is displaying my minis. You can prise my painted minis out of my cold dead fingers.

On the plate is a note saying "You are being watched". At the bottom of the glass is a microfiche containing government secrets. I know what I must do.

Haven't displayed my minis in anything formal yet.

I have 5 IKEA Detlof cabinets in my games room for displaying minis that could/would be used for gaming and have a couple more waiting to get setup to display those that will be look only (Sophies), dioramas, & busts when the living room remodel gets finished.

Good plans for displaying,  now need to get them painted.

I have a couple display cases. One is a cheap shotglass display case from a hobby store. It works, but it's cheap. The other is a stair-stepped platform with an acrylic rectangle top, I think for those funko things. That's pretty decent, I keep that one on my desk and have WIPs and primed stuff in it to keep them from getting dusty.

I've used a tablewar tray (magnetized bases) to display some minis in a fine art exhibit, but the lighting was horrid and nobody really understood what they were.

<snip>

There are quite a few Folk that have pieces I have done. I have no idea whether or not they are on display. One of the reasons I give things away is that they now will be seen by someone other than myself.

The other major reason for gifting them is the fear they will all be trashed when I have gone elsewhere.

My current display area is significantly smaller than what I had back in baltimore, but I do keep a few minis out on my bookshelf. Really had to reshuffle my books to make them fit. That said, I’m currently displaying my Goroloth, Blightfang, the King in Yellow (Scarlet Herald), and the mushrooms that @malefactus sent to infest NYC. They seem to be confined by the glass door… but I doubt that’ll stop them for long.

Several friends have minis I painted for them, and I know at least 1 has it on display, and another uses it regularly to game with.

My minis are usually displayed on the game table.  I do have a little desk top display case that I picked up cheap at a thrift store that has a number to recently paimted minis in it.

At the moment all of my minis big and small live on tv trays set up in the corner of my gaming room (or are strewn about the table), where the DM sits so he can grab anything he needs.... As for actual display, all the ones we've taken the time to paint well so far live in the little display case sitting on the TV tray or are almost constantly in use on the table

Of course, when Bones 4 gets here I'll be more than tripling the number of minis, and more than octupling (8x) the number of large and above minis... so I plan on setting up shelves in the GM's corner of the room to hold all of the minis.. Not quite sure what kind of shelves, but I have ~8 months to figure it out :D

Any suggestions?

Yes.

Housemate and I "inherited" a pair of glass display cabinets that sit in the hall near the front door, she has some tribal art and stuff on a couple of shelves and I've pretty much stuffed the rest with all the figures I've painted.

Not that any visitors ever notice them (or if they do, they don't say anything).

Bonus Question - Nope.

No, I do not display my minis, aside from the ones that just sit camped out in my painting space.  I considered putting a couple on my computer desk but there's too much stuff there and I'd be concerned about knocking a mini over and having to reglue/repaint.

If I can find a hanging display case I like, I might put one up over my desk.  (And I suspect larger pieces will end up on display simply because there won't be anywhere else to put them.)

No one should be displaying any of my minis since I haven't given any away (nor do I believe them good enough to be given away).  Maybe someday.

Yes, kind of. The big ones go on top of the book shelves in the living room. Smaller pieces are stored away for games and space saving.

My mom is displaying the diorama that Sibling and I made for her last night Christmas.

I do not. Not yet. I don't have the space.

As for others... I did commission painting for a while there, perhaps. Also I'm sure my ex still has some of all those minis I left behind. I always was a better painter than him.
