So for AUGUST:

  • Finish Marth
  • Paint Beastman
  • Start FrGQ
  • Go on Vacation
  • Have fun on Vacation

I went on vacation and mostly had fun. I've started to remove the mold lines from the Frost Giant Queen but that's all I've done this month. Might get something done Friday but not sure yet.

August goals:

  • Strip and repaint two ice dragon hatchlings (in process)
  • Finish at least one more dragon on my paint table (there are 5 currently in various stages of completion)
  • Most importantly, continue working on my 35 miniatures commission.  It is being done in stages, one team at a time.  First 5 are finished, next 4 are primed and ready for paint.

I was, perhaps, a little ambitious in my goals for this month.  I have partially stripped the two ice dragon hatchlings - I think I need a stiffer brush to get all the paint out of those tiny details.  Note to self:  never use cheap craft store paint on your good minis!

However, I have finished the next set of 5 for the commission, so I've painted 10 minis of the 35.  And I did finish one from my Table of Shame, although no dragons.  They are highly disappointed in me.

Managed to break my long stretch with no hobby work. Didn't really have a goal for this month other than do something, anything. I succeeded finishing off a few goblins that were partially painted most of the year and done a fair bit of work on a castle. Need to keep it going.

Huzzah!  The dragons rejoice, as I have finished two more that were in process.  I also delivered the next bit of my commission, so overall, I ended up completing *most* of my goals for August.  ::):

Seems to be a common theme this month, probably due to the sheer heat a lot of us have had to deal with....

I'll still pick three to work on and hopefully they will be completed ^_^

- Finish sculpting work on Wyrmgear

- Finish up my Skaven Warlord

- Finish my Reaver of Kargir

- bonus goal: Continue work on, and hopefully finish Tanith!

In addition, one other goal comes to mind...

- Minions, assemble!  Err, I mean start getting my skirmishers into the bases I've made for them, as well as finish assembling my Nigh Runners...  Since I have bases for pretty much all of them

- bonus goal: Prepare bases for my clan rats and/or plague rats, since I have 100 bases coming in the mail at some point! (probably Monday, unless I get really lucky)

August was somewhat brutal for the heat, but at least two of my main goals and one of the bonus ones did see work...  I sat down for one session on Wyrmgear, and therefore just have two more to go - one for the inside of the left wing, the other for any extra little details I care to add in....  My Reaver of Kargir has a great deal more colour, is mostly blocked in colour-wise, and I have a few ideas with where I'm going to go for him, and Tanith saw a reasonable amount of work as well.

After my crushing failure in July I will repeat and maybe even downsize my goals.

  • Paint La Charra Bust ( maybe finish her)
  • Finish Welcome to the Jungle Terrain.
  • Finish Xolotl ( Lost World Armadillo Man) Finished!

That's as far as it went.

I am painting La Charra, didn't finish her, and probably will take a few months.

Same goes for the Jungle Terrain.

I did finish a Lizardman though...

This month I have some more challenging goals in mind

  1. Paint the figure of Zoe from my Firefly Adventures game
  2. Paint a Dragon bust for my sister
  3. Paint another Bear's Head figure
  4. Paint a mini for the competition at Reapercon
  5. Paint a mini for a local competition in NM
  6. Paint this month's Mithril miniature

buckyball

My 2018 hobby goals include:

  • Running a Dark Conspiracy RPG for my gaming group
  • Running a Frostgrave/Ghost Arch game at Reapercon in September
  • Painting the 10 miniatures from the hasslefree kickstarter
  • Painting the 6 miniatures from the Going Native kickstarter
  • Painting the 5 miniatures from the Bear's Head kickstarter (on track with two)
  • Continue painting the Monthly Mithril Miniatures (On track with seven)
  • Reduce and limit the WIP box (formerly the shelf o' shame) to 6 figures. It currently sits at  >12

Man I sucked at painting in August. But in my defense, I did go to Reapercon and a local convention. And that ate up a bunch of hobby energy. Next year I will plan on not getting anything done in August. That way I won't be disappointed.

It's a new year! And with that come new goals.

I've got a short list but need to iron it out a bit before committing.

Since it’s the 2nd of November and nobody has started this topic yet, I will...

My goal this month is to finish enough Prince August home cast figures to stage a skirmish, and then to actually play it.  I came close last month, with a last minute finish on nine figures, but I’ll need several more to field my orcs and such warband.

My secondary goal is to get back to painting more regularly; I started the year at a pace of ~1 tabletop-grade figure per day, but I’ll need to stick to painting if I want to end the year with a pace of half a figure per day.  I’ve been running something about that the past couple of years, which means that, if I were serious about this, I would need to focus a bit more.  For most of the rules I play, a new project would be something like two armies of twelve units each of twelve figures, or a total of about 288 figures.  If I didn’t “butterfly”, that would be about a year and a half of painting, which wouldn’t be so bad if I could actually stay focused on a single project.  The odds against that are very long, of course. I’m currently looking at three new starts  (Classical Greeks in 1/72, Franco-Prussian War in 40mm home cast using vintage molds, and generic horse and musket with imagi-nations in portable 1/72) plus three ongoing projects that could use a fair bit of work (40mm French Revolution, 1/72 scale fantasy—playable but wants two Hordes of the Things armies to fill out the campaign, about 120 figures, and 25mm vintage Tolkien fantasy—for which I undoubtedly already own more figures than will be painted) and several skirmish projects.
