Ok, all this kickstarter hype has me wanting to paint some CAVs.  I did some Terran stuff a couple of years ago, so I could do some more of that, or start on another faction.

How about some suggestions?

What's a fun faction to paint?

I don't want an overly complex colour scheme.  My airbrush stuff is currently buried (someday our house will be organized....someday) so it will all be by hand.

And I'm by no means an expert on painting bots.  My CAV total of actual BSRs is 1. Everything else I've painted were tanks or support vehicles (which are very fun to paint).

You can assume if it was in the first 2 kickstarters, I have it...

If you're just wanting some fun paint project for CAV then you could head over to CAV secret Santa thread that @jsalyers posted and get yourself a project to trade with someone!

I've been pondering that, but want to get a little practice in before committing. And see how my painting time is going to be over the next little bit.

Is there an estimated price for the dropship when/if it's unlocked? I want to know how much to plan on setting aside.

Ok, newb question who really wishes he'd gone ahead and bought the rulebook at RC....  If I were to get the core set + the rulebook addon, will that be enough for me + a buddy to play reasonably enjoyable starter games?  Or are there units/models that would be important to have to really get the depth (Not worried about really competitive lists/seeing other units at first, I can add to it if we're enjoying things after that.)

I'm not a player yet, but I suspect that it was something along the lines of one of each of the models will provide a good starter force to learn with that's balanced against each other.

Yes. Just the 8 models so far would give both of you 3 or 4 squads to play with.

During one of the FB live streams yesterday, CAV Boss said it depends on how the campaign goes, but likely around $75 or so, and much, much higher at retail.

OK...you guys heard it hear first! The KS price on the dropship will be $75. Now make sure you listen to the rest... we have to get to that pledge level to unlock and it is farther up there (so if we don't get there, no dropship). So if you don't pledge we will never get there. Remember that anything you pledge can be taken back out right up till the last minute. They do not charge your card until the campaign ends on Oct 20th. Yes it sucks for the designer but that's why we take the risk!

I am adding an extra 75 to my pledge now since I will be adding that anyways once we get there.... that will help achieve the goal! heck I may as well go a head and add 25 for a book too, I only have 3 so with another I'll have enough to host a couple games at the FLGS....
