Unofficial forumite dinner on Sunday

Recommended Posts

According to Google: Chinatown Cafe as 3.9 Stars, and New China Buffet is 3.8 stars.

I also don't personally care where we go. If we could get a large enough reservation for Chedder's that would be fine, but I think we got like a reservation for like 28 last year, and that wasn't enough.

I absolutely want to be there, but some of us are without wheels. So we'll need some transport coordination for anything beyond reasonable walking distance.

I can make a Rides thread if needed. :)

Transportation is my biggest concern thou. Can the hotel shuttle take everyone?

Good question, I can find out.

Both Chinese places have about the same Google reviews, while NCKN has a full star lower on Yelp. The reviews are a love it or hate it type for both. Golden Corral has a full star lower on both.

Yeah...none of the buffets I looked at had stand-out ratings (really good or really bad), so I went with the two closest and the closest generic American food places.

(Cheddars is a chain; and a good one; not buffet style, tables and waiters instead, probably non-smoking...sorry @knarthex , but the food there is quite good, they had a pot pie last time I tried the place.)

This particular location is probably the first eatery North of the Hilton. Almost in the parking lot. A Two minute walk according to staff.  I just talked to one on the phone: +1 (940) 320-2503.

She said it is a first-come-first-seated sort of place. Best way to get a section is to send some scouts ahead, 3-5 people, who then request tables for a party of *20*.)

A place that close would be awesome! My biggest concerns with a non-buffet, though, are available space and food wait times. Last year there were nearly 30 of us at a regular restaurant, and not only was seating cramped, but the food took a long time to arrive and was cold by the time it got to the table.

No real preference and apparently you can vote for all choices lol

That was intentional, so that if folks don't really have a preference, they could choose all of them. :)

If we're looking at non-buffet options, can we get reservations for "20" at the hotel restaurant?  And how does the pricing compare to Cheddar's or anywhere else local?

Ooooh that's a brilliant idea!!! ::D: I will call today and find out whether they do reservations and if they could handle a huge group. That would neatly take care of transportation issues!

Huzzah!

UPDATE: I called the hotel's restaurant and asked about the possibility of a 30-40 person group doing dinner Sunday night. The helpful lady said it is quite possible, but for a group that big will need manager approval. She will call me back after her manager is back in the office. :)

UPDATE: I have made a reservation at the hotel's restaurant instead, since that will eliminate travel concerns, and they can accommodate a very large group (up to 100!). Also, they have vegetarian and gluten-free options. Seating will most likely be outside due to space, however I did confirm that moving inside is possible if the heat is a concern.

Here's a link to their menu:

Good less distance for me to stumble back to my bed.

And husband will still be in Dallas at that point.
