Welcome to Black Hallows, where light and dark wrestle for control, where travelers must be on their guard as even the most innocent looking old woman could be hiding a secret... let us introduce you to the Townsfolk of Black Hallows.

 The Townsfolk is a range of 14 non-player character miniatures, crafted from the highest grade, lead free Pewter (This quality of metal is normally only used for masters). They are available in either 28mm or 32mm and will come with their own base toppers and plastic bases. They are ideal for use in role playing games like D&D, Pathfinder, etc. Use them in your war games or collect and paint them for display.

28mm miniatures have 25mm plastic bases and 32mm miniatures have 32mm plastic bases.

We are also offering any of the characters in a 75mm resin version (see below). 75mm resin versions have a cast resin plinth.

All of the manufacture will be done in-house at Z1 Design, which means as soon as the first batch is ready, we can ship. So early backers can expect early delivery. We will deliver in order of backer number and it is possible that we will ship the first batch before Christmas.

 The future of Black Hallows -

We are currently working on further characters including both townsfolk and hero characters. The main Black Hallows game is scheduled for release in 2019. This will include 4 factions and the option of an extensive range of scenery and buildings.

We also have an author working on the Novel of Black Hallows.

We have an exciting year ahead of us!

75mm Resin Miniatures

All of the Townsfolk are available at 75mm cast in resin. Centrifugal cast in a high quality polyurethane resin.

Just add £18 per miniature to your pledge. You can choose as many as you like from the full range.

Or you can pledge for the Collectors/ Painters Pledge which includes all 15 miniatures (including the Druid) for £240

They look good. I'd appreciate the chance to buy single miniatures (at a slightly higher price even) as I have a number of townsfolk miniatures (I have three innkeepers, don't need another one, as well as two or three blacksmiths), but could use certain others.

Seems odd that they're not allowing individual miniatures, when their Druid add-on is... an individual miniature. Maybe they don't want to worry about having to have extra casts because everyone wants a Malin and not an Edmund. 

 

So would 28mm or 32mm be a better scale with Bones? 

 

This is their first miniatures KS, although they've fulfilled others (?). Anyone have experience with them? TIA!

Definitely backing this one. Excellent sculpts at a very reasonable price for metal minis. I'm guessing 28mm would be the best to order to be compatible with Reaper stuff?

Saw the project on my fb newsfeed a few days ago.

I’ve doubts on what the final production figures will actually look like.

 

Keep thinking of how poorly realistically proportioned renders translate into production small scale miniatures.

Thinking of the shallow details of the unpainted Wizkids line of human/humanoid minis.

Or the mess of the minis from the Kickstarter based on the Walking Dead tv series.

Both companies had great looking realistically proportioned renders just like those shown here but they did not translate well into production minis.

 

Would need physical proof this project creator knows what they’re doing.

 

Also find the multiple scale option a bit odd. Would need to see some comparison photos with other minis to see what the project creator thinks is a 28mm mini vs a 32mm one.

The painted ones are supposedly painted (pewter) casts, but yeah. I expect those to be masters, not production casts.  

They claim to have a full in-house production line with experienced crews. but this is their first big metal/resin project. 

(Until now they've mostly sold 3D print models)   

 

And I'm sad to say, the females are too cheesy even for me. 

The farmer's plough is more like the bow of an Ironclad than a farming tool.

The smith's hammer is a heavy weapon, not a useful tool for the smitty.

Shouldn't the Serving wench be carrying the same size and type steins/jugs/whatever as her father is handling?

Shouldn't the Guard and Captain have more similar helmets? They're very different in styles. 

 

In my opinion, the only model really worth having is the Granny. and that one doesn't interest me.

(Most 'old crone' minis are  caricatures. This one seems to be a bit better.)

I'm skipping this one.

Good points, all.  But I am in, anyway.  Perhaps I have a lesson to learn.

Hello everyone,

We know you have been waiting longer than expected for this update and that some of you have questions and concerns as to when this project will be fulfilled. We hope to answer your questions and give you a clearer picture of exactly what is happening here. Some of you may already know some of this as you are Townsfolk I backers and have read that update.

First and foremost, we are going to fulfill this project.

Our main issue at the moment is finances. This project was always more about getting the name and the brand out there, so we were making very little profit. As a lot of you may realise that prices of the miniatures + the stretch goals was low. Ours were approximately £2.50 in comparison to the industry average of nearer £5 for a mini with a metal base topper.  So we knew that there was a fine line for staying on budget. Subsequently we've been hit with a large unexpected tax bill which has put us in the position we are now - very low on funds. To the point that we are unsure if we can actually pay the tax bill.

Additionally, we've had staffing issues, so the speed of the production, checking and packaging has been severely reduced. The whole point of the deadline was to ensure that the project didn't overun, but because it has, we are now in this financial position. We still have the same wages, rent, etc.

So, you may be asking how we intend to move forward? We have been advised that liquidation is a possibility, where all responsibility is passed to the liquidators. This is not an option for us, as we set out to build the company and we are still determined to make this work. There has been suggestions about backers taking legal action against Z1 Design, in that situation we may be forced into winding up the company by HMRC. We intend to use the industry that we were in before we started the gaming to generate funds so that we can continue with the final production and ship the product.

Whatever it takes we will make this work and fulfill the projects. We have too much to lose by not fulfilling - the designs, the moulds, the brand, etc..

The E-book and Audio book are completed and will be first to be delivered.

The 3D print files will follow.

We will update you as and when we have progress.

We're determined to make this to work as we value our backers.

I'm a backer, but I'm glad I didn't pledge for more than I did.  I initially pledge for a lot more, but rolled back toward the end.  I'm also glad I didn't back the second campaign.

 

I could be tempted by exchanging to STLs if he decides to make that an option, but I think I'm just going to write this one off as a lesson learned.

 

The comments section makes for a an entertaining read though.

I'm only in for a 75mm Resin, and I should contact them to ask how much shipping is.. I don't know why they decided to contract their shipping so they had to send it all out at once.. otherwise I'd probably have mine by now..

 I thought I was slick. My friend backed and i was able to add a couple minis on to his pledge. So another friend and myself are out 2 minis worth each and my first friend is out his pledge... :(

 

I got the Bard and the druid... or at least that's what I have paid for. Wasn't really a fan of the druid but he had ordered it for me thinking it was one I wanted so... I still want the bard though.

Hopefully they send out stls of any files that people have paid for physical models or even better yet, ask for some extra funds for shipping out what they actually have and send those out.

Apparently the 75mm for TF1 were cast, but he couldn't send them out because his shipping prices depended on sending all pledges at once as part of the shipping contract he signed.. so in theory my stuff is just sitting there, waiting to be mailed.. I offered to pay shipping for them, but he hasn't responded.
