Thursday, September 27: Many of us seem to have worlds in our heads, which inform the miniatures we paint. Given the talent and desire, what format would you want your world presented to the rest of the world in? (Film, book, animation, stop motion animation, picture book, etc)

I mean, it was so difficult to portray in miniature (mostly due to my lack of basing skill) that I decided to learn how to paint classically in oils :D

Given what's in my head, it would definitely be a nightmare. ::D:

I second the person before me that said all of the above.

80's action movie, all the way!

Alternatively, an epic saga that would put Tolkien and Martin to SHAME!

Let's start with a manga-style graphic novel and see where it goes from there.  Pictures are much better at describing things than words are.

If that's no good, how about a series of novels and RPG sourcebooks?

I don't just want to share my worlds.  I want others to partake and explore the facets I haven't even thought of.

I forgot something!  A Book of Maps.

Do you decorate for holidays? Which ones?

Share pictures of fun decor if you have them!

Someone does while I'm at work. I have strong suspicions it's the wife, but I haven't asked.

Simply put, no I don't.

Main reason being I'm a single guy, with no visitors, and I'm always visiting family during the holidays, or just any long weekend. So I'm never home during any holiday where decorations would matter.

The wife does for all of them that have commercially available decorations. She likes to redecorate.

You may have a house elf problem. I've heard that there are exterminators specialising in that but I wouldn't know if there are any in your area.

In years gone by I used to do Halloween & Christmas decorating. With our families far away, Cap'n John & I don't do much in the way of decorating.

My Halloween stuff is more of a year round thing.

Just for Christmas, and mostly just for the kids.

We do have a Halloween jack o'lantern display that goes up for Halloween only.

Sometimes I decorate for fall, if I remember to get stuff out (and can find it) before the season is over. Some years ago I made a wreath of leaves for the front door, can't find the picture of it.  There is a seasonal table cloth and kitchen towels, that sort of thing.  Likewise for winter.  Really though, the big show is outdoors, I don't try to compete.

This neighborhood does not go for big light shows or inflatables on the lawn.

Yes! Halloween and Christmas are the big ones. I live in a place with limited storage right now so I'm confined to like one big plastic tote box of decorations for each holiday. My next place absolutely must have either a storage attic, or a garage so I can get more stuff

I tried last Christmas: sadness resulted.

Reaper tried pretty hard to cheer me up. They really did. This is my stocking from last Xmas:

...this picture was snapped today, about two hours before @redambrosia posted the question. I finally felt like opening the box it was in last night. Almost? Nine months to the day later. (That has to be a personal record for the category/question:  “What’s the longest you’ve waited to open a present?” )

Four xmasses have come and gone since the wretched one, ...maybe I should just try completely ignoring it this year???

Lady Klarg keeps a seasonal wreath on our door, just about year round. She's contemplating a replacement for her late-summer (synthetic) flowers now.

I used to carve, and display, pumpkins on Halloween, but we're in an apartment condo now, which makes it much less exciting, and makes an untended candle controversial, at best. We do get a Christmas tree every year, but our connection to the religious holiday is... tenuous. I have also put up externally-visible lights for the December / January time frame, but not every year.

Welcome to Getting to Know You, November 2019 Edition.

The rules as they currently stand ( we all know most of you rebellious lot will ignore most of it, but one can try)

      1. Every day, or so (unless I am out or ill or something) I will post a question.
1.5. Should I be unable to post a question for the day a crack team of deputy quisitors, former quisitors, and random forum members are all chomping at the bit to step in and post one...
      2. In theory there is a 24 hour span to answer that question before the next question is posted.
2.5. (Rule 2 is the most frequently ignored rule.)
      3. Questions are going to be posted between 8:00 hours and 12:00 hours CET. ( Central European Time)
      4. Everyone is encouraged to suggest future questions to be posted via PM to me...
      5. You do not have to answer every question to play...
      6. If a question is TMI or N/A simply wait for the next question.. ..or post that you decline to answer (clues regarding why can be fun...unless TMI).
      7. Weekend questions will usually take the form of two or three day quests, starting on Friday or Saturday.
