Not "Hungry like the Wolf"??? ::D:

Well besides going to the Ducks/Nevada football game & Coast the weekend after RCON this year, I found out that my game store celebrates their anv on Labor Day weekend (duhh, I just remembered he opened the weekend last year but I knew I was going to be in Texas.....). Anyways, they want me to run something familiar but out of the ordinary. So, I think I'll run a D&D game but have it set in modern times (guns & magic, what can go wrong!!). At least I'll have something game related going on that weekend.

@haldir  We'll be thinking about you at RCon.

Glad you will be doing game things while we confabulate.

Just remember "Any Sufficiently Advanced technology is indistinguishable from Magic".

Hint: Make batteries as scarce as the energy powering your magic system.

I just finished up my first batch of hand-made ribbons to hand out.

17 completed out of a projected Eighty some, which is two four yard rolls of ribbon.  If there is time I will crank out a third roll.

They will be shiny, they will be glittery.

And the glitter is in suspension so there won't be any complaints about glitter bombing the facilities.

Plane tickets finally purchased! Guess it's really actually happening! :bday:

I mean, it was before, but my going to ReaperCon never seems fully real to me until after the flights are finalized, since everything else can be canceled/refunded.

Oh crud, I gotta get my ribbons and t-shirts ordered!

Last year I did my packing in two stages: two days before, pack hobby stuff. Night before, pack regular stuff, along with the hobby stuff I inevitably forgot to pack previously.

It seemed to work pretty well, and also prevented me from panic-packing a good chunk of my hobby room due to not having time to figure out what I actually needed (which is what happened the year before that).

What's all this 'pack the night before' nonsense?  Get up at 5am and pack the day of, forgetting to pack something like underwear,  or you're not doing it right

We'll be on the road before 5am, so you're clearly wrong about how to do it right.

:grr:

My problem with packing hobby stuff early is that could get in the way of last minute panic painting.

You mean there's another way?

I do my best work under urgency; stress; deadlines and physical threats. I'm saving my *best* work for the Apocalypse.

Aside from that, I've learned from experience to pack the day before, as I will find a way of either forgetting something in the morning, or taking so much time to pack that I have to race to the airport at unsafe speeds.
