Green Eyed Monster
The pack the night before/morning of departure debate needs a third option. Always have a packed suitcase. I've had luggage "mostly packed" since 1995. The things in the luggage change over the years but the wife and I are on the go so much it's just easier to have stuff mostly ready to go at all times. Saves wear and tear on the nerves and since it's more or less a routine less stuff gets forgotten in the last minute pack the car and get on the road scurry. There's always "something" to go in at the last minute, this time it's going to be travel hobby kit and entry/ies for ReaperCon. Looking forward to seeing all there. Multiple costume changes planned. haldir
Since I leave a day early for Rcon(Tues), due to Boise is an 2 hr roundtrip & I don't want to hassle my wife (who is driving over) that early in the morning. I stay the night, leave early in the morning for Dallas. I tend to pack things a couple days in advanced. Mostly the game related stuff (due to me being a GM for the Con) the weekend before anything. Minis & such take the longest due to their storage. Clothes & other non-gaming stuff goes the day I leave. If I forget something there is always a close Wallymart for that.
Reaper User ReaperWolf Posted July 19, 2019 Reaper User Share Posted July 19, 2019 My events are submitted and approved but I have a LOT of work to do on this years events. 7 outlaw bands, on adventure each all centered around Murkillor's mega-dungeon lair Stonegraves. A lot to do... >>ReaperWolf

But then there's all the event specific stuff... 6 hours ago, haldir said: Since I leave a day early for Rcon(Tues), due to Boise is an 2 hr roundtrip & I don't want to hassle my wife (who is driving over) that early in the morning. My 'con husband' is taunting us by giving his typical routine for getting to RCon. He's not showing up this year. Hopefully next year...

Highlander
What happens when you put off finishing your entries until a month or so before the Con? Because that is when you project having lots of free time? In my case, you can have surgery on your left hand, Today. I'm right handed. but, even then, I won't be able to firmly grasp whatever I'm painting. The good news is that I'll be highly motivated to work on regaining full use of the hand -- following the Doc's instructions -- by month's end. Already have some foam balls arriving to begin squeezing -- on Monday. And, yes, this is one handed typing. 1
Inarah
Carpal tunnel? The good news is the pain goes away and the recovery is fairly quick. Squeeze those balls! Massage the scar tissue. Do the finger exercises.
Highlander
No. Tendon release on three fingers. A history of sports and the military and age and hand injuries caught up with me. Doc prescribed an opiod for pain. I took one opiod pill once several years ago -- I'll never take another. Never felt so bad in my life. I'd rather deal with the pain. Bandages come off on Monday; then I can begin working the hand. I actually think that painting will be therapeutic. 2
Inarah
Ah. The oxy/hydrocodone can make you dizzy, nauseous, give you vertigo, and vivid dreams, and leave you feeling hung over. (and like being hung over, lots of water and some food helps) It's best used at bedtime or when reclining. I was on it for several years because the side effects were easier to cope with than the pain. I'm happy to say I'm past that now. If you feel you can deal without it, great. Hope your recovery is as quick as the doc promises. Local con this weekend. My enthusiasm for Reapercon may be ramping up.

That way you can magnetize your bases and just attach it to your hand.
Paradoxical Mouse
I finally made progress on my vignette! But starting to feel the pressure.
