Moderator TaleSpinner Posted August 26, 2019 Moderator Share Posted August 26, 2019 Made great progress on everything this weekend. I just now got the minis to an acceptable (read not embarrassing) level of doneness, and I have all tomorrow morning to do touch-ups and tweaks to hopefully elevate it a bit more. I still have to pack and get me con materials and schedules done, but that is what tomorrow afternoon is for. Thank the Lord, I was able to take tomorrow off as well. List to complete before leaving for the con next Tuesday (I'm making progress!): - Learn to pose a ZBrush mini - Sculpt the fixes and base on the DS mini - Deliver the DS mini - Paint my entry - Sculpt 13 stump blanks for my Sculpting Nature class - Get my class handouts printed (I forgot to send them to Ron in time) - Dentist appointment - 2 PT appointments - Hair cut - Take oldest kid to college - Edit youngest's APUSH paper and print it so he has it ready when we return from the Con (he starts school the day after) - Clean the house - Clean the car - Pack - Print out QR codes and schedule - Whatever else I think of that I have forgotten but will be running around trying to get done on Monday night.
LittleBluberry
Okay, tried signing up for some games. We're late, so there weren't a ton of options, but there are some late night ones that will work for people used to the Pacific time zone. Only problem is that I can only sign up myself, not hubby. Does anyone know who I email about this? There are lots of spaces left, but I don't want the game cancelled due to lack of interest. GM is Colby Savell, if that helps. 3

And I am now hobby packed. Still have to do clothing, but that takes a lot less thinking. Is it weird that I am not bringing a single, solitary figure with me? I get so many there, I decided I'll just paint what I get. 27 minutes ago, Green Eyed Monster said: Report from the road: At 10:30PM in Amarillo the temperature was 97deg. Staying the night at my grandmother's place just north of there Tuesday.

Rarely do I overpack going out but it can be a little tight coming back! [Purple]The person behind you may have had a story to tell. On the plus side: free walker. On the minus side: how do we separate it from the undercarriage of the car? We appreciate your sacrifice to the imp of perversity and I hope it means clear sailing for the rest of us! [/purple] Glad to hear you made it okay to your first landing! I hope things go smoother tomorrow! When the walker "fell off" it was still early enough that just about the only other traffic was big rigs. That thing wouldn't even count for a speed bump for something that size. Today went very smooth, in fact so smooth the load leveling mods made I-40 about as smooth as a Lincoln Town Car. We went through Fort Sumner to visit the graesite of Billy The Kid. The tradition is to toss a Silver Dollar on the grave for luck. Since Silver Dollars are worth about $20 in today's money there were no Silver Dollars on the grave [which is surrounded by an Iron Cage for a number of reasons, mostly due to vandalism and multiple thefts of the headstone] but quite a few quarters and other small change. I put 3 quarters, a dime, and three nickels through the bars and they all bounced off the cement cap over the actual grave. Then I looked at what was left in my hand and something made me toss a bright shiny penny as the last tribute. I was thinking about the niece of a friend who has leukemia when I tossed the penny. Not only did it land on the grave, it landed and stuck right over where the heart would be, face up, and with the head perfectly oriented along the axis of the grave, the only coin actually on the cement. My next thought was, "Well Billy, you did a lot of bad when you were alive, maybe you can help do something to help balance the scales." Dilvish the Deliverer
Started setting things aside for packing. I have 5 new con shirts. Darn Izzy for being so talented. Got my ribbons. I suppose I should open the package and make sure they are good. Got my Kraken Dice KS so that should be all I need for dice for the con. Not sure what board/card games to bring. Someone Has Died is a definite. I have Underlings and Unwings which combines dragons and color theory.

Not quite sure if you can call it a game, more directed story telling, but it is really fun!
Cranky Dog
The more I think of it, the more I realize that though I could spend my evening to work on my secondary projects, it would be much smarter to start packing everything tonight instead of tomorrow. That way, tomorrow I'll have all day to have those "Ugh, why didn't I think of bringing that?!", instead of realizing it one hour into driving towards the airport. [Wow, it's been one day since my birthday, and already I'm acting more mature.] 4
Inarah
I looked at the Sophie I was working on earlier this year and thought I might be able to -just- get her ready for the con. I don't have anything important to do for the next 48 hours.
