Kangaroorex
Is anyone really good at brightly colored feathers? I have a couple of the raptors that were released last year that I have been staring at trying to figure out how to do the feathers justice. I want to do one as the standard raptor and one as a feathered dragon using the Doc's wings eventually. I can bring one with me primed If someone has suggestions and is willing to give advice
Green Eyed Monster
Report from the road: We left Amarillo "late in the morning", local time. But coniderably earlier for bodies still on West Coast timeand headed for one of te waypoints on our "must visit" list, that being the Giant Cross at Groom, Tx. This is basically a Religious Shrine started by a panhandle area local family. The "attention getter" is the 190 foot high Christian Cross close to I-40. Once you stop you earn that they have all of the Stations of The Cross done in lifesize bronzes as well as a number of other lifesize bronze and stone artworks. They have a building with a theater and small conference center and a very nice gift shop. Of note is the seperate building housing an accurate reproduction of The Shroud of Turin. The place is constantly being built on to and the latest Art Installation is in the central courtyard of the building, Titled "The Waters of Life", with multiple cascading waterfalls that make for a very pleasant sound and a lifesize bronze depicting Jesus Christ in the center. This piece was under construction when we stopped in last year on our way to Denton. After our stop there SWMBO stated she wanted to get to Denton Today. So we took the next state highway going towards the US Higway that runs a fairly direct route from Amarillo to Fort Worth. The rods were fast, speed limits even on the two lane run as high as 75 mph. Texas roads are very well maintained and clearly marked so 75 isn't ureasonable in clear weather. We rolled into Denton around 6:00 PM and walked into our suite at 6:21 according to the clock. Rested a bit, unloaded the car, rested a bit more and changed out of my now soaked duds and went to In and Out for a light dinner. We saw outside air tems as high as 108 F coming across today [thank the Gods of Refrigeration for efficient Automobile Air Conditioning! At 7:30ish it was 93 F outside and the hotel is "comfy" inside. We'll be spending most of our time indoor while here. Plan fro tomorrow is to wear our "I {Heart} Ed Sculpts shirts to Reaper HQ tomorrow and pick up some "Ed Sculpts" to paint up for the Con and just chill out and rest for the day Our meander covered about 1435 miles from our Desert Hideway to Denton. After ReaperCon ends we are meandering up to Colorado for a few days, including a ride on the Royal Gorge Route Railroad. From there we go to Reno to finalize the order for our new home and get the site development work organized. Then we get to see the Grandkidlets for a few days before we make our way back to our Desert Hideway. Kickin' Back in Denton, GEM

SGHawkins09
And I am finished. Really happy with most of my entries, the others I am ok with. The basing on a couple came together perfectly while the others were more challenging. In all I am satisfied with my line up based on that I hadn’t painted for a few months and waited until the last minute to start. Double checking them and packing is my plan for tomorrow and I can’t wait to see you guys on Wednesday.

So far, Shiny!Ma'al has behaved, and not attempted chicken hut for snax... I gave him a whole pile of bugbears before he left, so he should be content for at least a couple days. I'm sure he'd not turn down a knight or two, though, if you come across any in your travels. He really likes their crunchy shells. Felt great about all the things I got done on my list, up until packing. I've had a couple suitcases open on the floor for the past few days and have been chucking all those little "must remember this" things into them. Pulling all that out, sorting and actually packing it all took longer than expected. Plus now I need to move everything from my going-to-be-checked bag to a bigger suitcase (weight isn't an issue, but space is), so now I'm re-repacking. I was on track to actually get 6 hours of sleep tonight, too. Looks like ~4 hours + plane naps it is! Argent is optional, he's just so I have something fun to paint at my artist station. Finishing my 2 class minis are the biggies; luckily I was able to squeeze my plug-in Ottlight, so I should be able to paint in my room a fair bit today and Wednesday as needed. Okay I sleep now. Kuroneko
Glad you got there safely, @Green Eyed Monster. The weather in Texas sounds....um.... special! Safe travels to everyone traveling/about to leave. I would love to go to the con, but I'll just have to live vicariously through all your photos. Have a great time everyone! 5
