hungerfan
I was OK all last week except the high blood pressure from work issues that kept hitting me. Usually tried to limit actual hand shaking and do fist bumps when I could...and I too have my pocket hand sanitizer that I use more often than I probably should. The amount of guys I would see in the restroom go from taking care of business to the door...made me shudder a bit. I was pretty sure none of them I knew or had the pleasure of shaking hands with during the con so maybe just gamers rushing to get back like the poker players do at the casino. Eeeeewww.

I saw a few people rush out of the restroom after doing a number 2 and I'm like wtf? I didn't even have time to shout wash your hands as they beelined out the door. I was only able to stop a kid who washed his hands. =/
Kheprera
It's not just men who do this. I see women at work do this all the time.

With regard to con crud, this year Guin and I had an anti-crud protocol of frequent hand sanitizer. Everytime we touched another person or object, sanitizer. We tried to be discreet, but we caught no bugs. I recommend everybody do this and carry a mini bottle of sanitizer with them at all times. It's not rude to sanitize after shaking hands, it's looking out for each other against the crud! I had a bottle in the carry-all under the seat of my speed-racer, and another in the room. Between pro-active measures and a venue that hasn't had time enough to work up it's own micro-biology yet I think most of us got off lightly this year. One of my criteria for our shopping for a new house in the Carson City area is how big a garage/shop building does it come with? I have plans, for a representation of the Virginia & Truckee Railroad that need a lot of modeling real estate. Somehow those wide open sagebrush landscapes need more room to spread out than modeling an area where scenic tricks can be used to hide inconveniently close other scents. I’ll be overseas before that. I watched some of the videos of ReaperCon and holy crap there were a lot of people at the awards. Since there were circa 500 entries from around 200 people it made for a big program. GEM 5 hours ago, Highlander said: I might go this way next year. Extra points for "wearing a costume". Valthorn_Illian
Purell was my friend this year, as it is every year. I can report that I didn't get sick after the Con but I did get an acute case of food poisoning Wednesday night. Fortunately, drinking Pepto like water on Thursday cleared that right up even though I still felt like crap for the rest of the show.

Cranky Dog
Hmm, still Con Crud free after my second RCon. Either I'm immune of I'm the Typhoid Mary of conventions. Fatigue on the other hand... But that I blame on the vengeful airline gods. Edited September 10, 2018 by Cranky Dog

I'm not even that far yet, since technically I'm still not home from the con. 1
