The "Archelon" (submersible conversion) and Dagon

Recommended Posts

Oh wow, it's been quite a while! And I'm atrocious at stopping painting to take pictures. But here's where Dagon's at now. Festive Green stripes, Amethyst shadows and spikes, some Turquoise ripples and fin spines, all on a Dark Patina background. Metallics are ArtDeco, because they are cheap. My photography isn't doing justice to the colors here.

The barbels are AP Mutant Hue blended into a Reaper bonus paint sample which I use for mucous membranes every chance I get. Photophores are Alien Goo, as are the green glyphs.

Of course I'm going to snazz up that base with some sea life and reindeer moss...but do you think it would be worthwhile to trace in fine lines of light like sunlight refracting through rippling shallow water  first? Like this stuff. https://www.google.com/search?q=sunlight+through+water+on+sand&rlz=1C1CHBF_enUS747US747&source=lnms&tbm=isch&sa=X&ved=0ahUKEwiM5K3mrpvhAhVOQq0KHYKNC6QQ_AUIDigB&biw=1366&bih=657#imgrc=u2hSJdHjnXqk1M:

And if so, should I do the sunlight lines in white or offwhite, and do I need to make the shadowed patches bluer?

One final push! Took that bland sand and washed it with some Wolf Grey to give it that underwater gloom.
Then I added some little ripples of light in a white/Toxic Mist mix. But not everywhere, because...
...I still had to blotch in Father Dagon's massive shadow.
Then I glued on some blue reindeer moss and took a rubber manta ray and a coelacanth I had lying around and stuck them on. The coelacanth got attached to the base and the manta to one of Dagon's limbs. And that's about as good as it's gonna get for a while.
