Our doggo friends are taken from us all too soon.

In my head, Sammy is still a puppy, big ears and paws, snuggling in a nest made from our shoes.

 

But he is a grown dog now. Halfway through his life.

 

Khatt and Thomathy are also getting old, Megan has had them in her life for longer than me - and Khatt was directly responsible for Megan deciding to keep me around. I am his person.

 

The Auld Grump, she couldn't disappoint Khatt, now could she?

Same with me, I was the only male that my wife's cat ever liked when we first met and that was a big thing. I miss both of them.

I told Grump about Khatt, and that Grumpy would never see him, because he hates men.

 

As I said it, Khatt jumped in his lap and made himself at home.

 

After that Khatt never hated another man.

 

I think he hated Phil, and thought all men were Phil in disguise.

 

But he loves Grump.

Thanks for sharing your pet stories!

 

We've decided to let Nature runs it's course, hoping it will take a long time.

It's comforting that Brutus is still happy and playful, of course given his age he needs more nap time.

Also, Food is his priority nowadays, he's allergic to almost anything but besides his special kibble he can eat apples, bananas and watermelon and the occassional hazelnut or cashew is also a little treat for him.

 

I'll admit I'm spoiling him more than ever.

My Girl and me love him and enjoy his company, sometimes I get sad when I realise how close we might be to the End, but I try not to think about it too much.

 

When I work from home he sits next to me sometimes even under my desk.

I've had Boxer Dogs all my life as did my parents, but I can safely say that Brutus is the sweetest and softest soul I ever met.

Maybe the fact that he was raised with a bottle ( his Mother died while giving birth to her pups, one didn't make it) and of course the soothing influence of Oldest Vixen who's like a dog whisperer.

When he was a pup, Brutus would run around and play and nobody could slow him down, then Oldest Vixen came home, just sat on the floor and he jumped in her lap and slept rightaway. somehow she was his safety blanket.

The Top Picture is him getting me for a Coffee Break during my work on the basement.

The Bottom Picture is him sleeping after he had that tough job of keeping an eye on me.
