Even if his heart isn't pumping well, medications can help it function better. I've seen some pretty remarkable recoveries in the mammals I work with. So there is hope. *Hugs*

Also *hugs* to you @Crowley I don't know if I've heard the latest with her yet.

Thanks!

I hope it will work out.

Brain tumor. Vet gives her a couple of months before the meds stop suppressing the effects.

My sympathy Crowley,  you've been having a really rough string of luck.  Are they going to do anything about the tumor or is it not accessible?

We could do radiation, but its $7k, and she's 13, and it doesn't get us much extra time. ::(:

I understand, when my Balthar's cancer resurfaced he was 11 which is old for a Boxer.

I spared him the stress and sickness, it would have meant a miserable last few months.

Sometimes it's more humane to let them sleep.

Corgis have an average lifespan of 12 to 15, I figure radiation will not prolong her life much, maybe even make her feel sick and she won't know why.

Hard decisions my friend!

I'm thinking of you.

I wished our dogs could stay with us forever, but it isn't so.:down:

Speaking as one who has had personal experience with various forms of Chemo and radiation, i would avoid it and enjoy the time you have.  doggy pain meds are not near as restricted and easily perscribed so she can be functional and comfortable as long as possible

It is rather unfair that they dont offer humans these options but saying more will lead me into the beehive and I'm not ready to go there yet!

That's when it hurts most. I had a cat for about 18 years, who stopped eating and lost a ton of weight. Turns out, he had a major, fist-sized tumor in his belly. They said it'd be at least $2k to remove it, and couldn't guarantee how long he'd live afterwards. Being that I was only working a minimum wage job and was about to move across country with my fiancee, we had to say goodbye. It tore me up inside so bad, to know that I couldn't do anything for him. Best wishes to you and yours. I hope you're able to make the most of the time you have left.

BRUTUS IS SAFE!!! :bday::bday::bday:

We went to the vet and she had seen the previous X-Rays.

She listened to his heart, no problem.

Then she made the echo.

What happened is that since Brutus has a birth defect ( as we recently learned) his smaller intestines have crawled into his diapraghm, and a little piece of those lower intestines crawled into a heart pocket.

So this is what makes the heart look bigger on the X-ray.

Since he has no other signs the vet told us not to bother.

His heart ryhtm is perfect even under the stress of being held down at the vet for the examination.

Unless he starts coughing, gets a blue tongue or can't eat or defecate anymore, there is no problem!

The slogging I noticed she confirmAs what I thought before, just the average Boxer having problems with heat.

BEST BIRTHDAY GIFT EVER!!!!!

*** Sorry if I bothered you with my worries... I tend to panic when someone I love is in danger***

Really glad the vet gave him a clean bill of health, and you got a great birthday present.

Glad to hear that Brutus is good!

Unfortunately my frenchie Margot, passed away this morning due to an infection. She was 14.

Sorry to invade your thread ::(:

My sympathies!

14 is old age for one of her kind, you must have treated her well!

Losing a pet is like losing a relative, I wish you strength.

And this thread is for everybody who wants to post anything about their pets.

@Cicciopiu we're here for you!

If you want to talk or if you want to post pics of her, anything!

She may be gone, but she will forever be in your heart and memory!
