Ahahahaha! I finally got my hands on the Archivist's Library set! And the FLGS also had a WizKids Wizard Room accessory set.

The Library includes a ladder, two tall modular bookshelves, two short cabinet/bookshelves, two cabinet doors, three short card-catalogue drawer fronts, five shelves of books, and six empty shelves. It is customizable in the extreme! Just slot bits into the shelf brackets as you desire. Here's one arrangement.

I am more stoked about that card catalogue cabinet than you would expect someone to be about anything card-catalogue-related.

A brief paint/drybrush/wash later:

Since I plan to fill all those tall bookshelves with books, there were some cabinet doors and empty shelf planks left over. I glued them together to make a small freestanding cabinet. Painting the books themselves will take time. I would say the wood grain and furniture sculpting on the TerrainCrate set was more sophisticated, but the WizKids set has better-sculpted books and a much more painter-friendly setup.

The Wizard's Room set is an extensive collection of books, bottles, bookends, and bric-a-brac, including a nice row of books spaced exactly right to fit on one of the Archivist Library empty shelves. I'm looking forward to all those bottles, some of which will go to the bar set and some to a chemistry laboratory set for Prof. L. T. Froschmeister!

Haven't finished the books yet, but did pick up a WizKids desk!

Also, remember that globe I freehanded crappily, and how I said my wretched, ham-fisted daubing was nonetheless an improvement over the original? Well, the crafting store had more of 'em on clearance! **FEAST YOUR EYES** UPON THIS CARTOGRAPHIC ABOMINATION, A BLASPHEMY UNTO GEOGRAPHY!!

I think I'll do one as a lunar globe. The other--should I do Mars, or an Earthlike fantasy/sci-fi world?

Also picked up a packet of telescope charms. Rigging up an appropriate stand might be challenging, but we have lots of bits and bobs, and the Astronomy department needs to observe some strange stars!

I wish the terrain crate had a card catalog. I'd love to get a few of those

I like the desk too. I don't need another set of shelves though. I have enough for a huge library playset if I want.  I may do a Carnegie library from plans.

Got sidetracked into doing some science lab stuff. Telescope is mounted on a found object and some pins.

Then I had some...engravable plates I guess? that with a nice base of three half-inch wooden cubes made a great laboratory bench.

I got some of those bottles from the Wizkids Wizard Lab set painted up with metallic washes,

and my local big-box craft store had some extremely useful decorative tape which I put on the benches, and also on some craft sticks.

YESSS, make that library! I want to see this happen. Thank you for the plan, too!

And here's the finalized archivist's library. The cabinets were just facings so I glued on some basswood sides and tops.

Could be a lot worse!
