This is a very cool RPG product where you'll find a use for all those Mythos minis you've been collecting. One of the authors is a longtime friend and gamemaster of mine, I'm sure this will scare the pants out of your players!

From the kickstarter: The Sassoon Files will be released as a PDF and a printed book, approximately 150 - 200 pages long.

Wow, this is a new one.

The project has been delayed because the Chinese government has seized and destroyed the printed copies. https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/1918458549/the-sassoon-files/posts/2455655

We have suffered an unfortunate and unexpected setback with the off-set print run. On March 20th, the Chinese government ordered the destruction of our books. Although the printer returned our deposit, we need to find another printer and this will result in a delay in fulfillment. We are committed to completing the print run and fulfillment.

::o:

Didn't the US government do something like that to Steve Jackson, a long time ago?

SJG was raided by the Secret Service, and won the lawsuit that ensued.  It's on their web site.  As it's a commercial site I cannot link direct, but a quick google search will bring it up.

Today was the first session of our campaign, with yours truly as GM.  I am a backer at the PDF level and have my copy already.  I led with Friday morning's email shocker. :blink:   So far the players are enjoying it.

I think the article is labeled 'Fear and Loathing in Austin, Texas'. ::P:

I remember the Secret Service agent holding up the book and claiming that it was a handbook for computer crime.... :huh:

And refusing to show the warrant.

The good news is that this led to the formation of the Electronic Frontiers Foundation.

The Auld Grump - ye cads, has it really been that long?...

Whoa....

The comments on the update are encouraging - most people are very supportive, and a few are even proud.

I had to share this story with Lily Tang Williams, a Chinese immigrant I know who is a very outpsoken proponent of liberty and critic of China.

Impressive honesty from the printer too, it would have been easy enough for the to delay the call until the final payment went through and then shrug and say 'take it up with the government'

but they didn't the told them right away, and even refunded the deposit.

So assuming they're still in business and not in some unpleasant prison somewhere as long as your not printing anything related to china (ancient or modern) it seems they'd be a good company to do business with
