Killer Rabbits: Medieval manuscript art made into miniature

Recommended Posts

This is incredibly cool! Medieval manuscripts are full of weird stuff like the killer rabbits, including a spot-on rendition of freaking Yoda from the 14th century, so it's nice to see someone doing something with those neat little tidbits.

But I will echo the sentiment that I would really like to be able to get all of them with a single set rather than having to buy 4 copies of the majority of them just to get 1 copy of the remaining 3.

I guess I’m not a true collector, because I don’t understand the thinking pattern of “I can’t have then all, so I won’t get any.”   I can’t afford them all either, but I’m perfectly happy getting the ones I can, and just accepting that there will be a couple I won’t have.  They re cool figures!

Sounds like something inspired by Terry Pratchetts Duckman Discworld character.

It was indeed a "Duck of Doom".  Artist started it back in 2013 because pledges for the charity he was riding for had tapered off, and he wanted to reach $3k that year, and so it was simply stated: I reach $3k, I wear the duck on my helmet for the 70 mile ride....  It's been a yearly thing, and I believe every year that goal has been reached.  Every year has it's own rewards card too...

^That's the 2013 pic, taken/borrowed from Kovalic's blog, and used solely to show the existence of said duck of doom on a helmet.  For charity.  There are plenty more pics on his blog, with nicely worded writing about the reasons why the duck and that particular charity.

I' just rather not have to have four of a bunch. I only want one of each... or one of the snail rider.

They should have more snails for knights to do battle with.

On that we can agree on!  My wish is that they gave a pledge level for  a cavalry unit; either dogs or snails.

It's more that I don't want to support the idea of the bonuses only for buying many. Plus, it'll bother me if I only have some of them.

has anyone posted to the author with a request for purchasing singles?  he may not be willing to give away the bigger minis but I cant see them not doing addons...

From the Creator in the comments " Not doing any add ons for this smaller KS."

Hoping that will change as I'm pretty sure it is getting a touch bigger than they expected.

Grrr. They're saying that it's so backers get "bragging rights" - making me want to back out completely, even though I love the minis.

But for now, I shall persist in pestering them until they give in.

I do note that they did say in the comments that they were planning to offer the bigger ones for retail eventually.  Its actually a pretty good plan and allows them to develop a customer base that will be willing to buy something past the initial kickstarter sales.  Too many KS lately are a one shot and gone type deal.  I sort of like the thought process of offering a tasty treat if you really want it first but giving everyone the rights to add it on later.  This also derails a lot of commentary on how much the extra pieces should cost as an add-on and makes their shipping and deployment a lot easier.

And you know as well as I do that there are at least a few people who will go the whole lot just to say they did it.  everybody has the right to make a buck or two and $3 for a 28mm pewter mini is a pretty low pricepoint.  I'm in (especially with the B&B timing) for the basic 10 and I will look for the rest when and if they make retail.

I would even pay more now to get each - as I said in the comments, I'm willing to pay 45 for all 13. And they aren't pewter - they're white metal, which is a bit cheaper.

I thought "white metal" was simply a way of saying it's a pewter that's lead-free, at least as it involves the miniatures industry. After all, pewter isn't a single formulation, it's just a name for alloys that are a majority of tin.

I'm happy to see they've launched a 2nd KS, as I missed out on the first one.
Here's the blurb from the Kickstarter, which is live and already funded here: https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/292543184/wallhalla-2/description

Hey, everyone! We're Ill Gotten Games, and we're back for another round of Wallhalla, the modular, 3d printable miniature display shelves!
We're kicking this new series off with a Dangerous Dungeon theme that comes in two available styles:

Classic: (left) the original format found in Series 1, optimized for miniature display. Classic shelf units also include versions with recesses for standard round bases (20mm, 25mm, 32mm, 40mm, 50mm, 60mm, and 70mm).
Wall Sprawl: a new, terrain-style take that lets you build vertical dungeons and play on your wall space! (It works great as a display as well, especially if you want even more of a diorama look.)
Both of these sets are 100% compatible with one another and with any of the sets from Series 1. This campaign is for digital STL files, not finished, physical products, and you'll need access to a 3d printer to make them. All of our Wallhalla designs:
print 100% support free and are optimized for FDM machines!
assemble with durable, built-in slide-fit connectors, and don't require glue!
can be configured (and reconfigured) into whatever build suits your fancy!
      are easy to paint!

A new Kickstarter that may otherwise go under your radar.

      Very entertaining 70’s/80’s nostalgia aesthetics.

I barely received my last campaign pledge from Midlam that already it has something that caught my interest.

Sisters of the Kraken Cult. The female counterparts of the previous "Onslaught of the Cult of the Kraken Lord" and "Cultists of the Kraken Lord". (I now have some regret of not getting it)

What's also interesting is the optional add-on of fish folk.

Brinewind is going to have some interesting neighbors.

Ending soon. Card decks, each with a side quest. Pretty straightforward.

Been watching the previews for this on Bold's Instagram,  Some crazy cute models, this time sculpted by  Ismael Nieto.  I'm particularly fond of Bisa and Tori, the winners of the dino race, and the BatPacker is too cute.  Resin cast and STL like their last several releases.  I've picked up their STLs before and been very happy, Planning to try to swing for at least one in resin this time, though shipping from Sweden hurts.
