Disaster with the Flat Coat sealer

I was just trying to finish this tank off for gaming and I pulled down my can of Army Painter flat coat. I now have a lovely speckled Sherman tank. Any ideas on how to fix it? I literally keep looking at it and turning around and going back upstairs.

Are the dots just discolored flat coat, or actual little bits of grit like particles?   Did they appear immediately, or only after it dried?  I’m wondering, if it’s just discoloration of some sort, whether another coat ( from a different can!) would help fix it.

if it’s grit like particles, the only I suggest I can think of is  turning it into a winter camo tank, and soray it with more white; or one with a lot of heavy mud splatter.

That's similar to what I thought too. This isn't ruined - it is a tank getting snowed on. In which case, add more "snow".

The other possibility if it's particles with thickness is that you might be able to flake them off one by one. Which might damage the underlying paint layers, of course. I'd still try it, because you should know right away whether it's going to work and in that case, there's not much else you could do.

If not, as others have said, it might be clumping of talc particles, which can sometimes be fixed by another coat of dullcote or the like.

BTW, your AA MG looks like it's very sad. ::(:

Look like ich - has the model been recently introduced to new models that also have white spots? Any recent changes of environment or other causes of stress?

On a serious note, I've seen many people suggest a fresh coat of sealer, from a different source of possible.

>purple on<  That's a very fishy story. >purple off<

On a more serious note, either mud spatter, or, as suggested, try a clear coat from a different source, preferably tried on the least conspicuous part of the tank possible.

If a spray on is selected you can do a test spot by spraying some [just enough for a few drops as a sample] of the clear coat in a cup [mind the blowback] and use a brush to apply a bit of paint from the cup to the test spot.  If that works OK you should be good to go for a full coat. YMMV

Start weathering. Maybe first color the dots the same color as the tank, or just brown dirt. Various weathering effects include chipping, so you may end up scraping off some the white bits.

Dakka has a whole thread of this, including using hairspray and Marmite...!
