Space Marines. No - Like, *Actual* Space Marines

So, uh, these are actual actual Space Marines from Citadel. I got a little sprue of them at Free Comics Day a year or two ago. The date on the sprue said 2005, so perhaps they are obsolete models.

 

I had plans to do them up oddly, maybe sparkly purple or something, but then someone running a game I'm in said "Hey, do you have any space marines?"

 

So I said yes and painted them up bang-up average for Space Marines, going by random images I Googled.

 

Well, almost. The upside-down omega logo kind of insulted my linguistic sensibilities.

 

So I painted one with an upside-down omega, one with an upside-down lambda (symbol of LGBT rights), and one with an upside-down omicron (joke).

 

There's a little tiny bit of NMM gold on their can't-lift-their-shoulders-armor-pieces.

very normal bolter bobs. Yes they are still usable, you'd need a sergeant and probably a guy with a flame thrower or something.

These look a minor update to the the nearly press fit plastic marines that go back to at least the 90s with the 2ed edition. These look like they added a couple of minor pose variations to the basic model. If my recollection is correct you got two squads of them in the core box set.

Of course if you made them glittery and sparkly they would have been Chaos Marines dedicated to Slaanesh.

It is inevitable. If you paint 25/28/32 mm miniatures long enough, you will paint at least a couple of Space Marines; or as Victoria Lamb called them: "pointy nose Robot Guys."

Yours turned out SPLENDIDLY. I love your take on the shoulder pads. VERY WELL DONE!

Beakies! Or Mk VI Corvus armour if you want to be technical. The original Space Marine armour from 1987 and still the best.
