Jasonator
Since I have moved to Portland, I have FINALLY gotten my painting desk, and miniatures set up in front of a window. I've started working on them. My plan is to set up a royal tomb using 1000 year old oak tree bark, and two Tom Meirer elven guards. This is what I have done so far. I may have to build the tomb higher, and the placement of the guards is just to get them in the picture. Work in Progress. So this is my new beginning on the West Coast. malefactus
An OUTSTANDING START to a potentially WONDERFUL creation. It is wonderful having you back posting again, Jay. I have missed seeing your adventures in miniature. Have a FUN time with it all!
Jasonator
Thank you my friends. I have started with a big bang. I disassembled all that you saw above, and now will use Green stuff to build a proper entrance, and also I have incorporated some HIGHER tomb parts to allow for the placement of the guards, and the general feel of the piece. This basing can be time consuming..ROFL. I feel SO alive being back into the swing of things. I've missed this part of my life greatly. By the end of tomorrow I should be able to post some improvements, and development. Its funny, who's worrying about finishing the figures.. they just come along as you do everything else.... I'm gobsmacked that I'm NOT sweating the mini's at this point. Edited November 5, 2018 by Jasonator Typo

I was going to suggest to build a higher entrance, but you're already on it! Awesome! Go for it! 2
Jasonator
GREEN STUFF PANIC !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I went to use the green stuff that I KNEW I had... and sure enough I did find it squirreled away in a plastic box, however; there was only about an inch of green and less blue.. SHUDDER..PANIC. Had NO choice go with what you have. Well the base is now higher, and looks totally different. I can't take photos since I don't dare touch it, and disturb what I have done. So no photos till tomorrow. I will work on the Elven Guards and attempt to find out how to write "King" in Elven Script. (Tengwar) I think the word is ARAN.. I do NOT want to learn another language, Norwegian has almost killed me (though my cousins CAN write to me, and I can read their letters and e-posts). Happy Miniaturing. malefactus
I can relate. Whenever I start getting low on my Kneadatite an order goes off to the War Store. I am looking forward to your progress. A little delay only gives the eventual post more flavor. Anticipation is a fine seasoning.

Rigel
Lovely start! Don't know that I can help with the green stuff, but Elvish lexicography we CAN help with! Here's a splendidly detailed resource: https://www.elfdict.com/ and you are correct, 'aran' it is. https://www.elfdict.com/w/king
Jasonator
Thank You Rigel !!! I just don't know what "Aran" looks like in Tengwar Script. How does one write ARAN is Tengwar? I am NOT finding that anywhere. Thanks for your support. I think I might want to write that on a beam to the tomb. Jay

Does this help? https://www.tecendil.com/ (If you use this transcriber, note that it just transcribes whatever you write. You'll have to actually translate it elsewhere.) (I'm 90% sure the Tengwar lettering is documented at the end of Return of the King in an appendix but I have none of those books with me.) Thank you SO VERY MUCH. Using the above tool I was able to see what Aran looks like, then write it with a stub signature pen. So I have transcribed that to paper to add above the entrance. Not difficult at all (well, we'll see about that...ROFL). Thanks again Xiwo Xerase. Jasonator
Jasonator
Finally put some primer on base. I think this will work. Here is a photo of an enlarged tomb entrance, and some modified Elven guards. I don't know if I will use only one (leaning towards that, or get two in). They are different, so I am playing with the idea back and forth, pro and con! Here is a photo: Jay
malefactus
I think I would use them both; re, the base might look a bit empty with just one. 2
Glitterwolf
I would also use two. It makes sense that they visit such a tomb together or guard it together. And just one would make it look like a large base for a single mini. 1
