Gobbo
I am working on some great figs, but am tired of Browns/Blacks/Greys for hair. How can I get a good blond that looks blonde and not yellow?
lstormhammer
White primer, light brown ink, drybrush a yellow-brown color, then sucessivly lighter colors. Use light browns, not yellows. But I'm a blond, so I think that's how to get the colors you want. This is also a good trick to get brunettes that are lighter than mouse-brown. --lstormhammer
Moderator Froggy the Great Posted November 21, 2002 Moderator Share Posted November 21, 2002 Gobbo, check out this thread. It has some very good advice, which I've used to good result.
lstormhammer
I knew I had talked about blondes in another thread. Thanks, Frosch. :) --lstormhammer, senile old man.
Kheprera
Blone hair isn't really yellow. It's more of a light tan color. Go with that thinking and you'll do okay. I'd start with an ink of dark brown and go progressively lighter, as lstorm said, maybe just adding a HINT of yellow to the mix. Otherwise the figures will end up looking like Yu-Gi-Oh. :p
lstormhammer
*borrows BONK! for some attitude adjustment on whoever came up with Yu-Gi-Oh* Thank you, Ary. For some reason, my brain no worky today, so I didn't do the obvious thing which is 'I look in the mirror, and there's a nice blond color...'. --lstormhammer, senile old man

lstormhammer
Funny, I thought you 'sounded' young and innocent. BAAAAAAck on topic: Yes, think of blondes as more light tan, and you should be cool. --lstormhammer
Enchantra
Here is how I do blonde: I paint a base coat of "kings Gold" This is a color found in Apple Barrel craft paints. Then after that is dry I do a wash of a medium brown hue. When that is dry I then drybrush in a cream to a soft tan color.
Gobbo
Thanks All, I will give these a try. I am desperately trying to finish my WFB army for a tournament in December. :)
