An ongoing collaboration could be fun...for me anyway. I do love making bases; AND I love the Pingo-esque painting style.

From my POV the way the miniature was primed, I already like it and I think there is really no need to paint it completely. Just some elements like the lips, the hair, the coat and the base would  make an awesome contrast.

You're probably right, but I've already progressed way past this stage.  I started this some time ago and these pictures go up through ... the beginning of October, I think.

Not at all.  I’m the one posting September pictures in November.

So yeah, I did some more work on him, laying in some straight Carbon Black where I planned to paint silver and a little creamy ivory here and there, mixd from Titanium White and Yellow Ochre and shaded with the addition of a little Burnt Sienna and Burnt Umber.

I laid in some straight Red Iron Oxide, shading it with a little transparent violet mixed from Red Iron Oxide, Ultramarine Blue, and Quinacridone Magenta.

Cool basing!

Love this!

The basing is entirely @malefactus ‘s handiwork. I am but shading it.

Lots of shading in the reds here, with glazes of deep transparent Quinacridone Magenta to brighten it and violet mixes including Ultramarine Blue and Burnt Umber in the shadows.

I also did a little work on his hair.

I find reds look richest when they don't have any highlights at all -- Or rather, when the highlight is as pure a red as one can manage and the shadows only go darker.

Then I added highlights mixed from a subtle peach tone which included Yellow Ochre, Quinacridone Crimson, and Titanium White.

What about what I just said about reds not using highlights? you may justly ask.

Welp, this lets me put in what will be some more subtle highlights when in a minute I glaze over all the reds with pure Quinacridone Crimson:

This is Reaper's 14048, Fatima, Nefsokar Cleric.

Or rather it will be when you click on the links because she's super NSFW, front and back.

There isn't a WIP thread because I couldn't figure out how to make one that would abide by the board rules. But questions or comments are appreciated.

Been working on a series of monster hunters from the Early Modern Era, and of course that means we need early modern monsters!

The Vampire, of course, is one of the most versatile classics. Polidori, the "Varney" authors, LeFanu, and Stoker popularized the concept and promoted the bloated varcolac or shambling nach-zerer to the aristocracy. The variety is almost infinite, but nowadays we expect them to be parasitic, narcissistic, obsessive, entitled, compelling, rule-bound, and of course, literally blood-thirsty.

Here's one such vampire, the beautiful Jahenna. Alluring, beguiling, deceptive. This is one of the crispest, cleanest sculpts I've encountered with regard to hands and hair. The conveniently-non-cruciform gravestone she's sitting on bears the legend "Mircalla RIP," a nod to LeFanu's "Carmilla" (source of the Vampire Anagram trope). The dress is very Jessica Rabbit-esque and my first attempt at fabric semitranslucency. Could probably have pushed those highlights more.

Matthias the Twisted, on the other hand, is a very different flavor of vampire. He gets the full Murnau/Schreck treatment. Grotesquerie, disfigurement, corruption, contagion. An asymmetric bogey, horrific, athirst, more rat than bat or wolf. I do love the adorable little plague rats around and on him.

This mini is called "Vorvorlaka" and is from the Bones 3 kickstarter, Graveyard expansion. I based it on a 30mm lipped base.

      The obligatory size comparisons...

Going to call this one done. This one was another case of the mini looking s lot better after it is painted then when it is bones white. Think I still need to work on skin application was really hard on this one and had to make up where shades would go a long the way on most of it; still was interesting using Sorcerous mist and Vampire mist and think that Vampre mist has potential for work well as a glaze. As you can probably tell went for a Vampirella kind of look. Also kind of happy with the orb as under light it pops more then i thought it would.

One of my favorite Fantasy races are the Undead, followed by Chaos and Reptilians.
I already have my Lost World Project which tells a tale of Conquistadores, Reptilians, Dinosaurs, Undead and a lot more.
However those Undead are the Egyptian Style and Pirate/Jungle style.

This thread will be filled with my beloved Gothic Undead, Demons, Monsters and all things that go bump in the night.
In my Lost World Project I tell an ongoing story, here I will post about all other dark things without coherency.
There might be snippets of loose stories to accompany a mini or not...

I hope you guys and gals and creatures will like it.

Let's kick off with the critters I painted a while ago to get a feel of what is coming.

      Enjoy! ( or not)

Bats and a Murder of Crows

EDIT: I will include some Bones and minis. The bulk will be metal and I want to give this an oldschool vibe.
Preferred minis will be, Reaper, Grenadier, Ral Partha, Rafm, Metal Magic, Otherworld and Early Citadel.
The Asian Undead will be from Zenith since I backed the Kensei Undead Samurai KS and will get their own thread.

Changed the name of the Project.

      Eldessa Necromancer

      Ral Partha Female Vampire

      Lurien and Aysa

      Bat Demon
