dewen
I have heard a lot of talk about the timing of the book release. What about the data cards? Gotta have 'em - de
Cerridwyn1st
What I've been doing for demos is using a typed sheet with data cards for all models being used in the scenario being played. The stats on the sheet are from the OLE version of the rules. I wonder, is something like this going to be acceptable for regular play, or will players be required to have "official" cards? ladystorm
is something like this going to be acceptable for regular play, or will players be required to have "official" cards? those are fine, as are copies of the data cards from teh book and the small playing card size ones that will come inthe blister packs eventually. this has been asked and answered many times before, so I'm confident in my response. c
dewen
Are the release of data cards going to be timed with the release of the official rulebook? When can I expect to see them packed with the models?
Reaperbryan
Are the release of data cards going to be timed with the release of the official rulebook? When can I expect to see them packed with the models? Not exactly. We are expecting to be able to deliver both soon, though not necessarily together, and I do not know which will be available first. I wonder, is something like this going to be acceptable for regular play, or will players be required to have "official" cards? And you will not be required to have the official cards, you can use copies form the rulebook in official events. The Cards as a stand-alone item are just nice and speed up play. Larac
Is there anyway of getting the Data card stats for those of us running Events but could not make it to Orgins, all I have is a set of Beta rules, but they have little FLAVOR, no Faction powers, no showing any difference from Orc, to Elf to Human. They are very dry, and for a Con a bit Dull. Now I can make changes to show the Factions and races, BUT I would be guessing. These changes would not match the RULES and all would be confused. We really need a good cheat sheet, with Faction Abilites and a decent set of "Real" data cards to show the game off. I know there are some changes between Orgins and the Full version, but these will be minor for the most part. If I have to guess folks will be very confused. Lee Having, say, an Excel file with all the appropriate stats, including updates, available to AOs would be a great boon. 1) Less data entry errors (my son has a great time finding these on the cards I've created) 2) The most recent versions of all published models would be available to the OAs for demos 3) It would make it easier and quicker for AOs to generate Play Lists for demos and tournaments. I've made some sample cards that fit easily into a standard gaming card sleeve for Magic Items and Equipment. I've started setting them up for the models, but if I had something I could use for a Cut and Paste, it would be a lot more accurate and much faster. Many of the model cards can be copied from the exsisting Demo Sheets; the only problem with those being that the leadership models are modified from the originals, and an AO might want to use the "pure" models for a starter event. Moderator Froggy the Great Posted August 13, 2004 Moderator Share Posted August 13, 2004 (edited) The problem with this is that all it takes is one unscrupulous BL to make that spreadsheet available online, and then there's no controlling it. It'd make the Warlord book sell that much less well. Granted, it'd be incredibly convenient. It'd make the Warlord book sell that much less well. Granted, it'd be incredibly convenient. I see your point, Froggy, but the book is a lot more than a collection of Stat cards. Having access to stat cards would make things easier and more convenient, but it doesn't replace having the book for knowing the rules of the game. If you could replace the book with stat cards, then it would be equally unethical to set up Warlord for Armybuilder, wouldn't it? That would have all the data on the models, not just their point costs. As far as an "unscrupulous" BL putting the info on line, well, for the data to available to other AO, it would have to be online somewhere so a link could be published on the BL resource page. A player who really wanted to could find - and hack - these resources anyway.
Larac
If anyone can share the data cards with me, I will be getting at least 3 copies of Warlord for running events and demos. But I need as much as I can get now, as I have a Con to run at. Also a listing of the faction Specials would be most helpful, none of the beta rules I have contain them. All help thanked greatly!
