Stonehaven Dwarves Vol. 2

Recommended Posts

Honestly, other than the Barber, those were all pieces I was planning on trading or flipping, even before seeing the 3D renders.  I just don't have much need for "male Dwarf with armor and hammer #72" these days.

The change in sculpting technique was a bit of a surprise to me, though.

I also think they're looking quite good. For stout dwarves, that is. But this guy:

does feel a bit off. He looks like he is trying to rally with a cheer, but is hating every second of it.

It kind of reminds me of the tactical 'hold' gesture. Like he's a spec-ops cleric or something .

It is kind of odd to see the sudden change in medium for his sculpting, but I'm not really bothered by it, or the delay as they tend to come with the territory with Kickstarters.

I hope that means they'll start selling digital files, even if it's only for the big guys that they don't make anymore. Notice that this one didn't include a 'troll'.

4 days ago Stonehaven posted a reply to a backers post that was almost a month old.

They stated that they were expected the 3D masters the weekend that just ended.

That they expected that shipping would start about a month later and that folks would have their minis by June.

I hate to admit it, but I don’t have a lot of confidence in that timeframe.

As an aside. I remember when Stonehaven ran their early Kickstarters. They’d have regular updates, reply promptly to questions in the comments sections, interact with backers, ask for customers feedback on character designs... I’m not quite sure when that all stopped.

Replying to a post a month after it was posted is just sad.

Whats even more sad is the info in that reply really warranted a proper update  be posted so all the backers would be aware of the info it contained.

It just makes me concerned about where Stonehaven is headed.

I've shared that feeling since the Giants Kickstarter.  It's even worse since none of those miniatures appear to have made it to retail...I think there was a problem with their resin caster.  There was no "Troll" in this set, either.

I hate to speculate, but the communication getting worse has been ongoing for several projects now.

Going by the update before last it sounds like the wife half of their team was the communication person, but now she, apparently, has very little involvement in things there's no one doing it.

Totally baseless speculation, but I'm wondering if, over time, this has become less a side business and more a hobby.

That’s actually along the lines of what I was wondering about too.

Since their first kickstarter they’ve been on a steady decline of both backers and money raised in each subsequent kickstarter to the point of where this last project only reached about 1/4  the number of backers and money raised when compared to what Stonehavens first kickstarter did.

Doesn't help they've raised their prices tremendously to a point I totally ignore them when looking for minis.

Yeah. That happened a few years ago when they went with a third party to takeover the actual selling of their miniatures.

I wondered about that at the time cause it seems to me that as a small miniature company adding a middleman would’ve cut deeply into their profits.

I can't say I disagree.  It's one of the reasons I've gone in so heavily during Kickstarters...the savings are just too good, and when I go Completionist, I can still sell the ones I don't care for.

It’s been so long to get to this point that I’m seeing minis there that I don’t even remember being in the Kickstarter.

I honestly keep forgetting that I even backed this one.

Some pretty good deals in the early bird specials:
      https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/399883540/orc-warband-collectors-by-yedharo-and-gt-studio-cr

Offering 30mm, 70mm, Busts and 1/10 () Scale figures.  Something for everyone!

I got the early bird 4 bust deal.  FWIW I have some of their earlier figures and they've been very good quality.

A gang of ten 28mm bandits, thugs and ruffians for all of your fantasy miniature games.

Already funded in less than 2 hours.

I really like what Midlam generally does and I happen to need bandits, so i’m probably going to get them all 10 (well, 11 as they always add another mini as a stretch goal). They also allow people to get 9 other bandits from their range as an add-on.

This KS is now live.  URL: https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/450703636/battletech-clan-invasion

Catalyst Game Labs will be launching a Kickstarter project for a Clan Invasion box set for BattleTech on July 17, 2019.  This was announced on the BattleTech forums about two weeks ago.  I've copied the announcement below:

In 3050, the true heirs of the lost Star League thunder forth from the depths of the far Periphery and carve deep into the quarreling Successor States. As the Clan juggernaut rolls across the coreward realms of the Inner Sphere, the House Lords scramble to shore up their defenses and devise some way to halt the invaders.

The Clan spear is aimed at the heart of human-occupied space. Do you possess the bold tactics and heroic courage to defeat warriors trained from birth to conquer? Or will you uphold Kerensky’s dream to cast aside the squabbling lords of the Inner Sphere and reignite the flame of the Star League?

Hot on the heels of the wildly successful launch of two new boxed sets, the BattleTech tabletop game comes to Kickstarter for the first time ever to unleash totally remodeled Clan and Inner Sphere ’Mechs on your gaming table. Utilizing the same process that modernized the nine BattleMechs found in those bestselling box sets, each ’Mech has been painstakingly re-imagined, holding to the spirit of their original design while embracing a modern aesthetic. (Click on the images to enlarge.)

The Clan Invasion box set will add five popular Clan OmniMechs to your arsenal, including the seminal Timber Wolf (Mad Cat). It will also include a bevy of support materials, the rules needed to play Clan technology, all new maps, and more.

Stretch goals will rapidly fill the ranks with more Clan and Inner Sphere ’Mechs boasting all-new looks. The Clan Command Star expansion will include the devastating Dire Wolf (Daishi) and the ever-popular Shadow Cat, while the Clan Attack Star pack will contain the Warhawk (Masakari) and Nova Cat. Meanwhile, the Inner Sphere will take desperate action to try to stave off the invasion. The Inner Sphere Command Lance pack will deploy the beloved Marauder and Archer, while the Warhammer and Phoenix Hawk will hot-drop from the Inner Sphere Battle Lance pack. And there’s more to unlock on both sides!

Add-ons will include a plethora of exciting new BattleTech merchandise, the latest rulebooks, sourcebooks, boxed sets, and more!

      About
Depending on the amount of orders received for each project, delivery dates might vary. The initial shipment dates indicated are not final, and even though we're committed to giving all our customers the best service we can, sometimes the amount of orders received might make the final shipment date vary compared to our initial estimates. Please keep this possibility in mind before placing your order.
Regarding both the bundles and the stretch goals described above, no swaps of model of any kind are allowed. Therefore, please don’t ask us to swap any stretch goal with other add-ons or any perk models with other miniatures, because that cannot be done.
By pledging to this campaign, you are stating that you have read and understood all terms and conditions described therein and are accepting them. Therefore, all subsequent interactions with Greebo Games regarding this pledge will have to take this fact into consideration
In order: Comparative size between physical prodotypes - Digital Paint for Karimat Blitzer - Karimat's physical prototypes Those who pledge to the project will have a team made of several exclusive miniatures, and these will never be available in the store. This might sound peculiar, since most “KickStarter exclusive” pieces are not part of the teams per se, but rather, optional miniatures, or less important ones. What we’re talking about here, fellas, is giving each backer limited edition models. Later on, people will find different ones in the store, and they won’t simply be mirrored versions, or the same model with an added shoulder pad: they’re going to be different pieces, with different poses and clothed differently. Our goal is to create something that will be more precious, and largely exclusive for our backers, but something that will also retain its price – and that’s why you won’t find any miniatures with outrageous price tags on them, “cause hey, they’re limited edition!”. Nope:  the price will stay exactly the same.
Will it be worth it to wait more time in order to be sure to receive a custom team, made of detailed pieces created by talented sculptors, with limited edition models, dedicated stretch goals expressly for gaming purposes (as opposed to “stuff to collect dust on top of a shelf”), for the price of a KickStarter campaign that will surely not be the same of the team in the store?
The choice is entirely up to you all

I don't think word got around - which is a damned shame, the minis look wonderful.

We will be going in for a rulebook and a pirate band each - Megan going for dwarfs while I take the undead.

      At $4,589 of $9,944.

We have the dwarfs from their previous KS - and they are very nice -

The Auld Grump - because who wouldn't want a dwarf pirate wench?
